Tcg, why you want be good like ocg?!?!?
that hero list is like, just 2 dark laws and 1 plasma away from being just a standard hero list
well no the 1 of imperm is still weird
Because there us no need.
Tcg works drastically different. In OCG they want you buying OP cards every set so they can hit them ASAP, so they need you to get into the competitive mindset ASAP or their business model falls apart, thy need more competitive players every set to keep it afloat.
That’s why SUDA failed so badly in OCG.
That’s why stuff like fiendsmith lasted around 6 months and why ryzeal will get destroyed next ocg list. To push Maliss and Alin, cards might be cheap, but game moves too fast from one thing to another, so in the end, you still spend a lot during a season.
In the last six months, your snake eyes, yubel and fiendsmith cards were already obliterated by the list
In TCG you are supposed to gradually transition from casual to competitive because as giving a bunch of meta cards to new players will still end poorly as they will lose always and they will get intimidated by so many stuff going on.
That’s why these products are not being designed: they don’t fit with their strategy. It goes way beyond the economics
In ocg you don’t like a format and you can transition fornfairly cheap to any other card game you like…. Contemplating learning japanese just to live there for the card games tbf (damn i would like to have such good sealed decks in tcg :/ )
As long as konami is doing good i guess it’s okay
@Afr I literally have no idea what your point is beyond some collector-only mindset. Whether casual players had access to meta cards or not wouldn’t change that the game is mechanically complex and most decks are WAY WAY too far out of a standard price range compared to other card games and even the OCG format (Fuwaross is like $8 there, and that’s factoring in I’m importing it from JP). Yea things change around but that’s how card games work. 6 months is pretty standard for a top tier deck to survive and they’re still all GOOD, if not playable after the hits.
The TCG works differently but at the end of the day it’s still the same game, yet Konami west shortprints and rarity bumps any good cards and refuses to import any of the new-player aimed OCG products like this or the Tactical-Try decks for some god forsaken reason. It won’t happen for a while but I can guarantee the TCG will collapse during our lifetimes if Konami west doesn’t stop appealing only to the few whales who remain.
That\s for OCG English regions. You know – the places where Konami is trying to catch up and promote their game extra hard. Obviously they gonna get this kind of stuff.
And still we have the same prices as in the OCG, disgusting

I like when TCG player talks like they represent the entire OCG playerbase.
They look good but… why is it tagged like NEW CARDS
AE is a different region from the regular OCG and TCG. So some cards are outright imports. Albeit, I don’t remember their full list of product, but that would be the general reason by default. X.X

Legend = 🤡
the sword soul deck is a actually just a constructed list im moving to japan
This isn’t available in Japan.
You can only get it in the land of the ocg.
It’s not for Japan, it’s for Vietnam, Indonesia, some parts of China, Taiwan, Korea etc.
Yeah sure lets move to some not-so-great-for-living country because they have more affordable children card games. Sounds like a great plan!
So same idea as the tri decks. These will get more support later.
Asian English releases are unlikely to affect new card creation. In fact I think this may be deconfirming new support soon since they would have probably waited on doing these decks to include it
Well there was tenyi/swordsoul support announces already
I always forget that non-TCG regions actually give a crap about newer players and giving them affordable starter products. These are pretty nice though just like the Tactical-try decks.
I mean we have structure decks but they seem to force a lot of people into the competitive scene rather then the casual one
The thing with Structure decks is they’re not really playable at base. I mean they ARE but good luck getting any kind of boss monster on board. Tactical-Try decks and now these are both decks playable at base and can see success in casual locals without further mods, similar to how Bandai TCGs do their precon decks
Ocg got Maxx c. Asian English now has Maxx C. Thanks God Maxx C is band here.
6 months is a vert short life cycle for cards. In pokemon TCG, decks last years, charizard EX has been a tournament staple since late 2003. Mew vmax lasted relevant for it’s full life cycle (lugia did aswell and plenty of examples), OCG business is very predatory vs that despite cards being “cheap”. Is not all sparkles.
I really never understood people complaining about card prices as they feel “left out”, is like they want to blame losses on “game is unfair paytowin” rather than on theirselves.
If you were good at the game you would already know expensive cards help, but they aren’t enough. This format you can compete without fuwalos or purulia no issues, most decklists have them side decked, but plenty of decks have topped a ycs with neither which actually proves my point.
——
In OCG they want you ciclying through product every 6 months, in TCG they want you paying more for cards that won’t be heavily restricted in at least a year but will get reprinted. They preserve some value, but they have a higher price point, in OCG they become valueless bulk.
Your $100 ryzeal deck in OCG will get utterly destroyed in January, after just 3 months so you spend another $60-100 on Maliss + ALIN and just like that, you are $200 down without reprints and in a very short period of time.
Giving you cheap fuwalos and staples is because they want you engaged in competitive, like i told you; they are the anchor product of sorts. Their business model revolves around shifting meta decks quickly because people opens packs just because, that’s how they can afford cheaper rarities.
I want none of that; is even worse as a business model and isn’t much more effective either. Ocasionally, duel masters and one piece sell more than YGO in precise months, which says enough.
konami’s strongest glazer making some real inane excuses for tcg branch’s greed. some people really do just live in a bubble and exist to mindlessly consoom i guess
Lol
The classic “stop defending the millionaire company”. I’m smarter than you because rather than mindlessly complaining, i understand the business decisions behind the strategies and decide if i like them or not.
If i don’t like them, i leave the game. Just as i left PTCG as the game’s economy is broken due to everything being overprinted and booster box prices not correlating to the average box pulls, is a broken system the other way.
What i never really did was complain at every possible turn that i really didn’t like the product offered. I also never posted stuff like “if PTCG doesn’t loser the prices of booster boxes or starts increasing the average pull price, i will quit”.
I just accepted the product was not worth it to me and move over. Yugioh is a profit driven game, is not a charity and should be understood as such.
Complaining about the price of fuwalos (or any expensive card) as if not owning it ruined your life forever has to be the most childish tantrum i have ever read.
Considering I actually wasted the time reading through all this and figured out you’re insane, I’m still gonna reply regardless.
– 6 months is NOT a short life cycle considering that constitutes a whole set or 2 usually. Any cards that are meta after that probably SHOULD be hit. My current main TCG in Digimon has a boss monster that’s been relevant for years now because it allows turnskips with the right setup and generally forces an opponent to end turn early anyway (Imagine The World if it triggered when your opponent added a card to their hand).
Yes, card games have banlists to also promote newer sets but they all typically just hits problem cards and weakens decks without outright killing them. You also glossed over the part where the TCG hit Fiendsmith before the OCG did, so what’s that about cards not being restricted in at least a year?
– Staple cards can and should always be cheap. It’s less about being good for the meta decks and more about being good for the lower end/casual decks too. Fuwaross brings the speed up of weaker decks and allows them to compete in the current environment both casually and competitively.
Making them expensive just widens the gap between weaker and stronger decks even more, potentially making weaker decks collapse instantly when it could’ve had a fighting chance if it’s user shilled out $500 for all the rarity bumped staples that they could’ve gotten for around $20 if they lived in an OCG region.
– Spend $100 on a complete deck that I can use in tournaments for 3 months and be able to get around $40 back from prizing and if I do want to sell it after banlists OR spend $300 on 2 cards that I need 3 of, and not including the rest of the deck that is STILL just as likely to die in the same amount of time and make the cards worth nothing in comparison to the 300 I spent on them?
Once I have the staples I’m not gonna sell them unless they get hit, so it would probably be more like $20-$30 to swap from Ryzeal to Maliss if I really did want to swap after a banlist (and that’d only be if Ryzeal is legit unplayable with no combo routes after).
-The TCG is a much worse business model by far, in terms of sustainability at the very least. Regardless of it you agree or don’t agree with how Konami west does things, most people don’t agree. With how many people are leaving the TCG and how there’s both MD and Duel links for the casual players that ALSO give you a lot more for $100, I genuinely can’t see the TCG market surviving without Konami importing OCG products as is, with no short prints or rarity/card changes.
The fact they didn’t import the Tactical-Try decks and DID import Speed duels leads me to believe they’re trying to ride the bubble before it pops, rather than ensure the market can last by introducing products to casuals.
Asia gets playable products like these while us in the West get Rarity Collection set #1846023 that are just old random cards with slightly different foil…
Your needs not being met doesn’t mean the product is bad; Bonanza retro stuff is quite expensive for a reason.
Just ignore Afr’s comments. They’ve got legit stockholm syndrome for the TCG market.
Didn’t think anyone could be worse than the blind Rush haters but now I actually miss them.
Naran like many Rush Duel “fans” is an ESL small in the mind, ignore their drooling.
Lmao
When people has no arguments, they retort without one. You can take or leave the value proposition presented by TCG team.
You can even play OCG if you like it that much. They have full freedom to do whatever they see fit to grow their business, you can do whatever you see fit to take care of your wallet or buy anything you believe is worth your time/money.
Complaining on internet all day, every day about how you “get treated unfairly” is not only ridiculous, as YGO isn’t water or food, is a luxury product that is not even the only card game you can play, is sad.
I’m not defending konami, i’m defending their right to present their products/services in any way they see fit, because that’s how liberty works; you are trying to tell them what to do (fascism), i’m just saying they can do as they please and i will decide if their offering is of my liking or not as i already quit a TCG i disliked.
If majority of people shared your opinion (spoiler: they don’t), their sales would plummet and they would change something. If their sales numbers are good or they are happy with their sales numbers, who are you to tell them what to do? They will listen to numbers, not to spoilt brats with victim complex.
Moreover, OCG is starting to lose steam vs One Piece and Duel masters which heavily hints that card’s and product price are not the issue, as it is behaving the same in TCG territories aswell.
Stockholm must have you by the neck if you’re gonna move the goalposts too
Yeah, tons of people feel entitled. It’s sad, but true.
That doesn’t mean the price gouging isn’t a problem, but it’s not a problem that really matters in the grand scheme of things.
And hoo boy, the prices do get ridiculous everywhere anyway. Stupid inflation(among other issues).
Why Afr so eager to be public enemy
Ikr if anything BRUHNAMI is to blame for competition only decks dominating in tcg. If they ever considered practicing what they preach and take advice from the people that made the franchise what it is. That’s a Christmas miracle at this rate nowadays.
Glad ocg and custom actually care. Tcg needs to put back the heart of the cards into their cards again. In other words, people’s ideas over what sells. Unless they’re really that broke lol.
All this talk is too complicated for me! I’m going to assume card games are a crypto scam.
