That being said, in all seriousness, following the release of PRIO in the OCG, it is time to begin discussing a few awesome decks that have gotten turbocharged from this amazing archtype-boosting set! If it came down to a vote, I am positive that a majority would pick WIND as the least impactful or successful Attribute in the current metagame. WATER got their Mermail, FIRE got their Fire Fist and Fire King, EARTH got Madolche (which get Anjelly on the horizon), LIGHT got Agents and Bujin, and DARK has Dark World and of course Beezle, at least in the OCG. Besides, what deck could ever be successful with the core strategy of bouncing cards on the field back to the hand? But then I wouldn’t be writing this, so let’s introduce you to…
Spellcasters have been one of the most supported types from the beginning of the game, due to Yugi running a Spellcaster, Dark Magician, as his ace monster. Also, the type has received 2 themed Structure decks, in tandem with tons of awesome support in Starter Decks. Now after tons of support has piled up, the scene is set for the older Spellcaster focus to reign! And no, we’re not talking about Village Lockdown, introducing Spell Counter Spellcasters!

Ever since the reveal of the Normal Spell, Dragon Shrine, I’ve always tried to make interesting deck variants combining it with Eclipse Wyvern in order to toolbox out whatever Level 7+ LIGHT or DARK Dragon I want at the low cost of using something to banish Wyvern. There are many ways to abuse this toolbox potential, from Hieratic builds to even Blue-Eyes builds; however, there is a new variant that has arisen due to a new assailant in our midst. Let’s break out this new weapon in style – join the dragons in flight!
Introducing the archetype that holds a special place in my heart, the Chess Daemons! I’m positive you’ve heard of these little fiends before, I mean, who hasn’t? Introducing the only archetype to include multiple cards without the archetype name in their title, in addition to being one of the handful of archtypes released in the TCG to span across all 4 YGO animes! So if you are completely unaware of their power, it’s time to crawl out from under your rock and join this game of chess!
Continuing my trend of covering strategies that gained a massive boost due to the recent release of LVAL in the OCG territories, it’s time to introduce the possible champion of a new era for some decks, a paladin that will set a high bar for future releases.
