Regarding the Effect of Ultimaya Tzolkin

We’re noting this because it’s in The Public Interest.

In June 2022, the Trading Card Game, the non-Asian version of the Yu-Gi-Oh! card game, corrected an older mis-translation of Ultimaya Tzolkin that changes the functionality of the card, from a previous print of the card, that is now outdated.

The specific update is that it cannot be targeted by either player not just your opponent.
This correction can be found on the Official Database. However, the TCG (Trading Card Game) has yet to provide a physical reprint of this card with the updated text at this time.
With tonight’s reveal of The Crimson Dragon found here, this change matters because the prior print’s outdated text would allow Ultimaya Tzolkin to be targeted by the effect of “The Crimson Dragon” and allow “The Crimson Dragon” to freely bring out a copy of “Shooting Quasar Dragon” or “Cosmic Blazar Dragon”. Which is not an intended interaction.
Specifically it would interact with this effect:
(2) (Quick Effect): You can target 1 Level 7 or higher Synchro Monster on the field, except “The Crimson Dragon”; return this card to the Extra Deck, and if you do, Special Summon 1 Dragon Synchro Monster with the same Level from your Extra Deck. (This is treated as a Synchro Summon.)
