Creative Deck Profile: Fire Meets Water – Volcanic Paleozoic

Combining FIRE with WATER results in disruptive destruction.

Replays:

Strategic Summary:

Continuing our trend of revisiting past decks, the next profile of this week combines the Volcanic archetype with Paleozoic – both centered around their trap cards. The Volcanic archetype lives and dies on the back of Blaze Accelerator Reload, a continuous trap that can trigger the powerful board-wiping effect of Volcanic Scattershot by banishing itself from the GY. As the Volcanic archetype is entirely Pyro-type, this allows for easy recycling and gained advantage through the use of Royal Firestorm Guards, resetting your Scattershots to wipe your opponent’s board turn after turn. The Paleozoic archetype also enters the fray here, simply because it offers unparalleled access to getting that Blaze Accelerator Reload into the GY where it belongs. Paleozoic Marrella can send Reload directly to the GY from the deck, and then separately, Paleozoic Leanchoillia allows you to recycle that same Reload back into the GY after it banishes itself. If you draw or search your Reload with a copy of Volcanic Rocket, Paleozoic Dinomischus steps in to discard it while banishing an opponent’s card. All the while, every time you activate a Trap card, you can bring your Paleozoics back from the GY as monster cards to fuel Link or Xyz Summons. Dust off those traps and disrupt any chance your opponent has at the duel by combining Volcanics and Paleozoics! (Plus a few trap monsters, since this build had some extra deckspace!)

Note: This is continuing the style of Creative Deck Profile articles, designed to showcase a build through replays rather than through a long article. If you wish to see a CDP for an archetype, theme, or strategy you love, feel free to private message me on the YGOrg Discord server, the comments section of any of my YouTube videos, or just post a comment in response to this article on our Facebook page with your ideas to keep under consideration! On most YGO-related communities my username is Quincymccoy, so feel free to reach out.

As of now, I have 3 outstanding requests that I am considering: Melodious, Vendread, & Virtual World. Some of my prior requests was covered by participants in CDSS4, so I highly suggest checking that out!
