Wait… “You can Contact Fusion this card”
So i can either Contact Fusion it, or just simply use Fusion right?
I would wait for the official Database for a final clear rulings.
But for the moment?
Yes, there’s nothing on the card saying you MUST Contact Fusion, merely you CAN Contact Fusion.
I view it the same way as any other Effect monster with an alternate summoning procedure, such as Cyber Dragon or Excutie Lilius, vs. monsters that must be summoned with a certain procedure and no other ways, such as the Elemental HERO Fusions or Five-Headed Dragon.
High-Leveled monsters such as CyDra or Lilius don’t specify you can Tribute Summon them in their text, because it’s well understood they can be Tribute Summoned just like any other Level 5-6 monster. Fusion monsters don’t specify they have to be Fusion Summoned in their text because that’s how they are normally brought out. Just as you can either Special Summon Lilius with her procedure or Tribute her like normal, I suspect Dark Matter Requiem can be normally Fusion Summoned like any other Fusion monster, via Fusion or even through Void Dust Fusion if it gets printed. I suspect because they can be Fusion Summoned either way is why our known Contact Fusions are lower Leveled and have less ATK than ones that cannot be Contact Fused.
Flame Wingman or FHD while specifying it must be Fusion Summoned excludes them from Contact Fusion, but they can still be Fusion Summoned via monster effects or Spell Cards that use materials from the hand or GY as well as the field.
Fun fact, you CAN repeat this with Protostar.
Another fusion for Requiem, and Oblivion only has two.
Sometimes Zwijo looks more like a protagonist than Yudias.
Very similar to the Yuga vs Luke situation (where Luke felt like the MC on many occasions)
Ironically, Zwijo still has two unprinted Fusion Monsters (Voidarvelgr Pandora and Voidvelgr Gehennamagia)
Outside of that, Voidvelgr is a Rush Team favorite (with Beast Gear and Shadow Flower)
Borreload Dragon has 8 evolutions whereas Firewall has 4.
Sometimes Revolver looks more like a protagonist than Playmaker.
It’s because the rival has one defined Ace while the protagonist has two.
If we count both Oblivion and Rainac as a shared Ace, then Yudias has more Fusions – 7 vs 4 (5 if Tridynabase counts).
I think TCG/OCG should already adopt the “Its attacks pierce” from Rush, it doesn’t make sense to keep the so long “If this card attacks a Defense Position monster, inflict piercing battle damage to your opponent”. If a player knows what “piercing” is, the rest is redundant.
Rush is meant for a younger, more casual fanbase so these things have to be specified, such as Contact Fusion is also specified here.
@N
I think u misunderstanding something here. what u said means that Rush should have the ‘long explained text’ in the card. Here, its the Master Duel version that has the long text like the other guy said and Rush has the ‘short’.
So the guy’s comment here says that MD cards should have the Rush text for the ‘piercing’ effects. No need for the long text.
He doesnt mean that the ‘explaining/specifying’ itself is needed or not. capish ? 😛
Rush Duel is meant for new, beginners, who only play the game recently. RD is great for them. I love reading card effects, since it is important. Most RD, DL players, who used Blue Eyes decks don’t really read card effects. Which is a fact. Not a claim at all.
FYI, I don’t play Blue Eyes, and never will, not because I’m a meta [most effective tactic available] person, however, but because they are generally boring, they are expensive, even the budget builds, and also, they BRICK! Even in Duel Links, where the card deck size is 20-30. You don’t need to read card effects to play Blue Eyes.
I think Rush Duel is similar, to Duel Links, [in terms of deck size], around 20-30 card decks, as it is also “speed duel” as well.
It seems unlike Speed Duel/Master Duel, Rush Contact Fusion is a Fusion Summon. I wonder if this will apply to Rush Neos Fusion monster.
Also nice to see Contact Fusion being used as official terminology.
It’s also nice to see that in Rush, Contact Fusion is a built in summoning procedure on the monster itself that specifies you have to shuffle the face-up materials on the field back into the Deck. This distinguishes it from the effects of monsters that allow you to Fusion Summon such as Change Slime or the Magnet Warriors.
I find it interesting that despite not being the cover card, Requiem got its text reveal before Emperor Dragon. I am also surprised knowing in hindsight Requiem isn’t the cover card as past rival’s Ace evolutions were covers in MD.
Potentially great Rogue, I guess. Am I wrong?
