Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection [Video Games]

    NeoArkadiaBy NeoArkadiaFebruary 4, 202414 Comments

So you want to play the classic games?

Konami confirms they’re porting Yu-Gi-Oh! games from consoles such as the Game Boy (Color) and Game Boy Advance to Nintendo Switch and Steam.

No confirmation if ports to English will be released.

Release Date, Pricing, etc. is unknown.

Is this the first time that Konami re-releases one of their older Yu-Gi-Oh! games?

      • punny on February 4, 2024 5:32 pm

If you want to be very specific then no. Because there where those Double Packs with 2 “older” GBA Games on one Cartridge. And then there was Yu-Gi-Oh! GX: The Beginning of Destiny which was a port of the first PSP Game on PS2

If we could just get Duelists of the Roses and Capsule Coliseum, I would snap that up in a heartbeat. <3

        Amen for Capsule Monster Coliseum.

Duel Monsters 6: Expert 2 (with potential mods!?) straight into my veins. Not to be confused with the butchered international version.

      • Lee-Bug on February 4, 2024 9:37 pm

Barely butchered(and was released in Japan the same week). If anything, mods are what actually butcher the original experience.

Less cards, more bugs, difficulty nerfed by adding more filler vanillas to decks

I wonder if it gonna have the multiplayer intact for the games?
Could be interesting if its online play.
If they gonna release the games on the switch NSO service then they gonna have netplay there.

I would like to see yugioh game forbidden memories or duelist of roses remastered with up to date graphics…. so far only play master duel anymore…

      • Solus on February 4, 2024 10:40 pm

FM does not need ‘up to date graphics’. What it needs is the ability to actually acquire every card (eg. Summoned Skull, Tyhone #2, PUG Moth, and Gate Guardian), instead of everything good costing 999999 star chips, and every player having to rely on Meteor Black Dragon.

There are still many things they need to confirm about this collection later.

First, of course, is the included lineup. Does it only include the DM series (which may or may not cover the first DM game for GB and early WC games for GBA) or the non-DM (i.e. DDM) as well? Does it only include the originals or the remakes (which the localized versions are based on) as well?

Next are the features. Would it be straight ports, or would it include any QoL and bugfixes? IIRC the GBC titles require connectivity with other games to unlock some cards, so they would need to address this at the very least.

Lastly, is whether it would be released for international audiences or not, since some of the games were never localized, and some localized versions were based on the remakes rather than the originals.

I won’t get my hopes too high considering their recent MGS collection has mixed reception, but this is still better than nothing, and hopefully we could get a compilation for the other YGO games if this goes well.

This is so good, hopefully it gets confirmed for international release and maybe some QoL changes too.
