CDP: Onomato Heroic Utopia, with ZW, Gagaga, and Friends ft. DUAD Support

Strategic Summary:

Today’s CDP features the new Onomato/Utopia cover theme support in Duelist Advance and is fully emblematic of the Xyz Summoning mechanic. In terms of the new support, they received a cycle of Dododo – Zubaba – Gagaga – Gogogo monsters that each facilitate an Xyz Summon, then each tutors a monster from the next theme if detached as cost from an Xyz Monster. For example, Gogogo Goblindbergh (YGOrg Translation) Special Summons a Gogogo monster from your hand/Deck/GY, then it tutors a Dododo monster when detached. This pairs well with options like ZS – Ascended Sage or even Zubababancho Gagagacoat that did both of these things, and helps bring the disparate archetypes together. They also received a new Xyz monster that fully supports this strategy in Gagagaga Girl (YGOrg Translation), a R4NK monster that can detach a material to tutor any Gagaga, Onomat, or Xyz card. The two new S/T support options you can elect to tutor are Gagaga Hope Tactics (YGOrg Translation), which protects Utopia and Utopic Xyz Monsters from being targeted or destroyed by card effects or Xyz Unbreakable Barrier (YGOrg Translation), which serves as a denying Counter Trap to your opponent’s Hope and Dreams. The best card of the new wave is their boss, Number F0: Utopic Future Zexal (YGOrg Translation), a R1NK Xyz Monster that prevents your opponent from targeting other monsters for attacks or any other cards on the field with card effects. As you’ll see in the replays, this soft floodgate can really mess up some strategies, even before you factor in the extra effects granted by the R4NK Gagagaga monsters you probably used to Xyz Summon him.

As for the rest of the deck, it is chalk full of options to support endless Xyz spam and provide as much versatility in the endboard as possible. For example, numerous Heroic Challengers enter the fray, including Heroic Challenger – Morning Star, giving you an additional Level 4 Special Summon as well as a copy of Heroic Envoy or Heroic Call to give you more monsters to Xyz Summon with. Heroic also got a new R4NK Xyz Monster as part of this support wave in Heroic Champion – Magnum Excalibur (YGOrg Translation), which can give another monster 2000 ATK/DEF or double its own ATK. I still have good memories of Heroic Champion – Claivesolish though, as that R4NK monster gets you down to 500 LP to double the attack of any monster you control during the Battle Phase. Beyond the Heroic Champions, your Extra Deck also offers fun bosses such as Number F0: Utopic Draco Future and Ultimate Leo Utopia Ray, which gives you both a monster negate with its own effect as well as a monster negate via the ZW – Pegasus Twin Saber you’ll equip. Onomatopickup all of these archetypes and shove them together to create the ultimate Number 39: Utopia experience!
