WE ARE SO BACK
I’ll admit, I was a hater. Couldn’t see how just two insanely broken, even if they ended up being good, cards could do enough.
Making the spell card a “spellbook” changes everything.
Now, not only is your one card spell fusion/starter INSANELY searchable, so are a myrid of other relatively much more playable search targets
Let’s not forget that they unbanned judgement
Here before the inevitable comment about how these are unplayable because of some hypothetical
Nothing hypotetical about being forced to chose between 4 useless bricks (charmers)
Or 4 useless attribute-locked searchers (channelers)
Wow, there are Charmer Stans? Color me surprised.
Even crystal beast played bricks. It just needed a boss monster to justify playing them and an engine that can tutor them all out.
Any time there are little girls in Yu-Gi-Oh!, there will be grown men excited about them.
Add 4?!?
WHAT THE FUUUUU
The Fusion lets you pick the same effect up to 4 times?
yes, you can do so if you wish, dear.
It’s really hilarious that it has to specify that.
That’s a 1 card combo. Use 1st effect of Book to get all 4 charmers/Familiar Possessed to hand, use 2nd effect to fusion Charmers of Grand Circle, use CoGC effect to summon the same 4 charmers from GY, eventually mixed with the removal or searching Possessed S/Ts.
It’s a 1 card vomit 5 monsters on the field with optional removal or search for our S/Ts in exchange for bodies. Arguably it’s very prone to hand traps of all kinds and demands playing a lot of garnets in deck, but successfully resolving it is an overkill.
And wait… there’s more!
It’s a “Spellbook” card! It’s perfectly searchable and recoverable in Prophecy.
Obviously Fairy Tail – Luna and even Fairy Tail Tales are great addition as plenty of our monsters are spellcasters with 1850 ATK. Sadly, Snow is banned in TCG because with such explosive plays there would be a lot of monsters in GY to banish for her summon.
There’s a deck – kinda wobbly and very fragile but that’s more than original Charmers SD ever had.
actually you can only search the “Charmer”, not Possessed monsters with that spell
@Ariel
You can also search Channelers but these want to be played in mono-attribute decks so they are useless as search targets for the new cards
Yeah, my bad xd
Still, the point about Prophecy and Spellbooks stands. Issue obviously is keeping Charmers in the deck, but tbh even summoning the new fusion using just 2 materials is pretty damn good.
@FreeBagooska – yeah, would perfectly fit. Snow could actually come back if Konami would finally pay attention, where Once per turn is needed. That only would fix the card, instead of finding its way into degenerate banish stuff piles.
Why is everybody talking about 4 charmers?
You all are aware of Dharc and Lyna, right?
Charmers cover 6 attributes, what makes the fusion even more broken, if you can use them all. And since Spellcaster got their own version of “dragon mirror” or “branded in white” they can easily utilise them from the grave.
Furthermore, I’ve been playing Vaalmonika X Charmers for a while now and they work very well together.
Don’t know yet how to play the Vaalmonika and Spell book cards with the charmers, but let’s wait and see what else is coming in that deck.
That spell and a DARK monster on hand to normal summon and you can summon The Arrival at full power…
Not worth when you are forced to play terrible maindeck cards to use the new spell and fusion.
Sadly their artwork still the only good thing about Charmers
Not familiar with Charmer lore but why are Dharc/Lyna excluded from the group in most artworks?
I’m not sure it’s ever explained, but the impression I’ve gotten is they don’t live in the same time or setting as the other 4 and are in their own independent story.
Also, “boys in my CGDCT anime is gross”.
Lyna is not on the same level as the other 4 and dharc’s magic is works entirely differently to everyone elses
I still can’t get over how ugly Eda the Sun Magician is, why they didn’t make that one a cute girl is beyond me.
my headcannon is Lyna and Dharc are their predecessors…but who knows
Any lore didnt seem to matter with their link retrains, so idk why they are excluded from everything else
its especially teh same since these two both are the actually best ones of the group
not only do they support the way more present light and dark typing, they are also the only ones who have any kind of usefull or interesting effect in theri possessed form
Warmth Hero Bundleman Ne
Seriously ? Of everything that u could comment abt, thats what u say ? Woooooooooooooow 🤮🤮
stupid sad a*s dushbags 😒
I love these group of goubers
I think it’s neat that charmers consistently get access to genuinely terrifying game design because they’re so garbage that as long as it stays with them it’s not a problem. If any other deck got a 4 card search spell I’d be concerned but since I know it’s in the same theme that has cards summon themselves from the deck I know it’s not coming to anything else any time soon.
It’s nice to see support either way
Don’t know if this is how the deck is run now, but wonder if we get stronger support to the Flip monsters? Something similar to Enneacraft, We get one card (or six retrains) that let’s you set a lot of Charmers at once then immediately flip them. They probably want you to run all 4 to 6 attributes, so the ability to change opponents attributes before snatching them would be good instead of building a deck around guessing, making consistency less dependent on what the opponent plays.
Iirc they already have one insane support card which grabs one of the charmers from your deck, summons it face-down, and then either forces the opponent to attack into it or flip it face-up (forgot which)
sadly that card only activates its effect one another one of your cards is destroyed
so you can use the new spellbook card (which is searchable since its a spellbook card) to add 4 charmers And is you have any spellcaster in your hand you can fuse for quintet magician if your going second to pop the field. or you can use the charmer fusion to special summon 4 different charmers for five link dragon. or link climb using seline. I see several different combos
need specifically charmer or familiar possed for fusion to work
so a 1 card combo that you can potentially get 5 monsters out that cant be destroyed by card effects or by battle all will have over 3k
I wonder if doriado works in any capacity here.
Wow, that’s cool…Konami…can you please just retrain the Familiar Possesed? They would literally be better as normal monsters. Their “effect” is actually that worthless.
And why do you only search the Charmers? Were 4 bricks not enough
This card is hilarious. If your opponent hasn’t seen this before, they will for sure be like, “It adds how many cards?” You’ll pull out the Charmers, they’ll be like, “oh okay, that’s fine I guess.” And then you can banish it, summon the new one, maybe add a spell and a trap, summon two back for further summoning, your opponent will try to use Imperm or Ghost Ogre and you’ll go, “No participation, thank you.” Does it fold to Ash? Yeah. Does it make them meta? Hell no. But that will be such a funny interaction that finally gives the Charmers some real consistency.
Honestly, they need to retrain all of them. Just give them a clause that says “This card is always treated as a Familiar-Possessed and a Charmer”, what? are they afraid of breaking freaking Charmers?
Omg why not make it add the spiritual art cards too??? It could have made the deck relevant. 🙁
I have no idea if searching “jutsu” cards would be an issue in the ocg (I suspect there is based on how the Awakening of the Possessed cards are worded) but the tcg naming would definitely have issues.
Grand Spiritual Art – Ichirin, Spiritual [Attribute] Art, and Greed is Dark Spirit Art because why bother with consistency?
Spiritual Art can be an archetype if Konami wants it to. The first 4 Traps are already their own archetypes thanks to the new familiars.
With how many new cards they will have and no other archetype to cross promote with I would be shocked if Spiritual Art weren’t a full archetype by the end of this promotion.
My wife is a brick you say? Well, that brick will be the foundation for an empire. I think about the extra text that FP – Dharc and Lyna have and its just sorch and I think you could do something more creative than that, and no, more entomb and vomit is not the answer. Once you find inner peace you won’t need every card in your hand to be usable at all times in a sandbox game of variance.
Still missing a continuous payoff for summoning Familiar-Possessed from the main deck. Similar to how GEPD has no payoff for using its own summoning condition despite there being 517 galaxy cads. Still missing a Possessed continuous trap that changes the attribute of something on the field OR gy.
I’m glad that for once multiple monsters standing next to each other (potentially) have higher stats than the individual members. Silly Dark Scorpion Burglars.
“(you can choose the same effect multiple times)”
Reminds me of mtg cards with “you may choose the same mode more than once”
Eria and Wynn swapped hairstyles!
I hear they were roommates.
Hey, using the Grand Circle spell book would be a easier way to almost summon Quintet Magician by itself right? Also pretty funny wording on the new Charmer fusion, it says each effect can only be used once per turn, but the odd wording also seems to let you pick the same effect multiple times while you are first picking them?
Anyways cute cards, but sadly doesn’t help the deck be playable even on a casual level honestly. xD
PS: Rereading, yes it is obvious you can pick any of the effect options multiple times on the fusion, I just missed the part where it says you can do that the first time reading it. Regardless, It is still a bit of a odd way to word it IMO.
The Spellbook is never a dead draw.
Except… if you only play 1 of each charmer and you draw one of them. Then you have to first somehow get it out of your hand before you can activate the spellbook. And the chance of drawing one is unfortunately pretty high, seeing as you play 4 of them. I guess it’s good in decks that discard or put cards from hand back into the deck again a lot, though.
@Leo – then you still can search rest of them. Hell, summoning the new fusion with just 2 materials is still pretty damn good play.
A lot of people focus on the big meme of filling the board with all Charmers all at once, but summoning the new fusion with just two material still is giving you three bodies on the field and absolutely no restrictions on locks so you can link away (or summon some Rk.3, I suppose?) …and it still not enough, because card is giving you all the other options.
The biggest issue that the entire thing is extremely susceptible to all kind of hand trap interruptions but alas, that’s something that can be said about every other deck.
@FreeBagooska What the person is trying to say is that if you run 4 of the charmers, and you have 1 in hand, then you cannot activate the spellbook. It must search exactly 4, no less. Because of this, it bricks so hard, it’s almost better just to dump the spell into the GY instead.
It’s… not very good for the deck, and feels almost intentionally unplayable… and this is coming from somebody who has tried to main the deck in Master Duel for 3 years (ngl it’s 50% Dogmatika mix at this point).
Charmer spellbook deck???… ok, I´m in!!!
Maybe this means they will retrain the main deck monsters? Please?
There are already 5 different versions of each other’s f these girls.
There are already 5 different versions of each of these girls. 4 main deck, 1 link. Also 3 versions of each of their familiars.
@ScionStorm Yes, but those don’t work with the deck. They’re generic. I’m talking about Main deck monsters that actually work as a cohesive strategy. That’s not what they have but what they need. Konami didn’t have to make these cards that were never meant to work together, actually work together…but they did, so they should at least make it work without having to play 8 cards that do literally nothing, but don’t have the decency to be normal monsters.
Heh, it’s actually a decent board breaker if you think about it. You search the charmers, summon the fusion and the opponent can’t react to its effects, so you can non-targeting bounce up to 4 cards they control and they can’t do anything.
Downsides are of course that they can ash the spellbook and that you have to play 4 garnets, which is a pretty big deal. But I could imagine that in some decks it might actually be worth running this.
Cool cards.
