Aqua is back baby!

Strategic Summary:
Today’s Creative Deck Profile features a return to one of my favorite archetypes EVER, the Tistina! The Tistina them consists of Aqua monsters of various Attributes that have a ton of extension potential, great one-card combos, and a few unique disruption options, what isn’t there to love? The primary card you need to know is Divine Domain Baatistina, their Field Spell that sends any Tistina monster from Deck to GY, then if your opponent has 3 or more face-up cards, it also summons Crystal God Tistina from the Deck. While you may not pull off the summon all too often, you don’t really need to with Miasma Dragon Tistina, since that will summon itself when sent, tutor a new Tistina monster, and unlock every combo you would ever want to do. All of this is what the Tistina could already do – let’s talk about what they can do now.
In the TCG release of the Burst Protocol set, the Tistina were one of the archetypes to receive ‘generic’ TCG WP support cards, and their wave supports Aqua and Level 10 monsters! First up is Vodnika the Fountain Spirit, a Level 10 LIGHT Aqua that Special Summons itself when a Level 10 monster is sent to the GY, then it can Special Summon a Level 10 monster from your GY to the opponent’s field and draw a card. Let me break this down – the first effect is obviously just a good extender, but did you catch that the second effect synergizes with Chaotic Elements so well that it basically gives you 2 free cards, if you give your opponent an Aqua Level 10? Once you have them on your board, both Level 10 monsters can then be used for the Xyz Summon of the other key new support card, Mercurium the Living Quicksilver, a R10NK DARK Aqua that attaches any monster as material on summon. Then, while it has material, it prevents the opponent from activating effects of monsters in the GY with the same Attribute as one in your GY. In short, it’s a discount Lavalval Chain and Abyss Dweller combined, and boy is that powerful in today’s game.
To bring us home, let’s talk about the supporting engines I’m using in Tistina now, and first up is the Yubel engine. This kicks off with Nightmare Throne, which destroys Spirit of Yubel in your Deck and summons a free Yubel to your field. Sure, this is a simple combo, but if you already had Vodnika in hand or GY, you already have enough for a draw and your first R10NK summon. Even if you don’t, Spirit of Yubel and Yubel can be shuffled back to make Phantom of Yubel, isolating your combos from an errant hand Trap before you even add a card from deck to hand. The second engine is the Horus, led by Imsety, Glory of Horus and brought to you by the reprints in the newly released Charmers Chronicles deck. With this engine, you gain access to The Zombie Vampire, allowing you to mill even more Attributes into your GY, while also advancing your gamestate. The fun tech I’ve also discovered for this is Rank-Up-Magic Argent Chaos Force, since it can turn your Zombie Vampire into CXyz Coach Lord Ultimatrainer or your R11NK Number 84: Pain Gainer into Number C1000: Numerounius. That’s right, I found a way to slot that in! Combine these big bosses with your standard Tistina options like Varudras, the Final Bringer of the End Times, and you will have power plays for days. Unleash the might of the upgraded Tistina, with the new cards from Burst Protocol!
