Anti-Synchro and Fusions; how fitting!

Strategic Summary:
Today’s CDP features the return of the Branded strategy to my channel, as I figured it was time to dig back into the strategy and showcase some of their less-than-common potential. That’s right, we’re bringing back in the Springans Branded strategy, which features Decisive Battle of Golgonda to protect your cards while the Springans engine expands upon the capabilities of your run-of-the-mill Branded variant. With the help of Tri-Brigade Springans Kitt and Gung-Ho! Springans!, this build leverages the plethora of Branded themes that mention Fallen of Albaz and the ones that don’t, from Guiding Quem, the Virtuous all the way to Therion “King” Regulus. Also, now that Dogmatika Lawbringer has entered the fray in the TCG, this offers yet another way to get your Albaz Fusions to the GY. But that might not be why you clicked on this profile, so let’s talk about the Meklords, as they were the primary inspiration for the profile.
The Meklord archetype consists of a few different subthemes, with the common thread that they are extremly anti-Synchro and love when monsters are destroyed. Take for example Meklord Emperor Wisel, which can summon itself from the hand when a monster is destroyed by card effect. Once on the field, he can also equip an opponent’s Synchro Monster as well as negate the activation of an opponent’s Spell Card. The best boss of the Meklord strategy is Meklord Astro Dragon Triskelion, a Level 10 DARK Machine that can equip a monster from the opponent’s Extra Deck when it declares an ATK, then when equipped with a Synchro, it can make 3 attacks on monsters in a turn. The core of consistency for the theme is literally a Core – Meklord Nucelus Infinity Core that is, as it tutors a Meklord S/T on summon, and in here that would be Meklord Assembly. Assembly adds any Meklord on activation, then offers an effect to destroy a monster you control, allowing you to trigger an Emperor’s summoning conditions as well as Infinity Core’s effect to Special Summon a Meklord Emperor from the deck.
With all the inherent destruction the Meklords have in addition to The Fallen & The Virtuous, it is only natural to want to capitalize on it, which is why I turned to Full Moon Mirror (YGOrg Translation). This new Continuous Spell gains a counter whenever a monster is destroyed, and while you won’t be using it to recover a Fiend or Fairy in this particular build, you can leverage it to end the duel by tutoring or recovering your copy of Triskelion. Now let’s address one of the other questions you may have – Is this competitive? Definitely not, but that wasn’t the point – my point was to continue showcasing the potential of more engines you might not have ever considered before… And with something as compatible with destruction as the Meklords, you might just walk away inspired to try them out with other destructive themes!
