I didn’t realize they were all water charmers with this new alternative artwork lol
Oh for bunny’s sake.
What about the Divine Charmer. Like the Avatar from the Last Airbender.
Divine isnt a common or generic attribute.
At this point, Konami should already say that Dharc and Lyna are not canon for Charmer Lore.
I’d assume at this point Wynn/Hiita/Aussa/Eria is basically as essentially the Arland trilogy of Atelier games.
And Dharc and Lyna are in the Dusk Trilogy.
Or say W/H/A/E are Final Fantasy 4 and D/L are Final Fantasy 6.
It’s been speculated for a long time that Dharc and Lyna exist later in the timeline when the original 4 are older.
All the Horus support too… damn
they erased dharc so hard it made them forget lyna
The four elemental Charmers were the first ones. Dharc and Lyna came later, and so Konami doesn’t seem to like including them along with the “classics”.
? Or maybe they just erased both?
A nice palate cleanser. Yeesh, my first reaction to Eria was Roxy vibes.
They nerf Aussa’s assets
… no they didn’t? they just drew them so that the shirt isn’t tucked underneath them (which is a classic error) like in the old art
Its common knowledge that underboob sweat causes fabric to stick and fit the form. ;P
The Zombie Vampire is a class (type) traitor and this will not be forgotten
Konami will do anything but retrain them into an actual strategy…(sigh) Oh well, maybe in 10 years. Til then, 4 bricks and a bunch of retrains that are great generic cards, but do literally nothing for the deck…
retraining them into an actual strategy is a waist of resources. This is already a waist of resources. They were created to support independent attribute decks and they should continue being focused on that. This kind of support as a singular deck is just pulling away from what they should be doing.
@ScionStorm No it wouldn’t be, because they’d be an ACTUAL deck. Konami was the one who set them up for a structure. They didn’t have to do that, but they did, so they should at least properly support them. They have long since started to be their own deck seperate from single attribute support, and that’s fine, but actually support them.
I’m not sure if this is Art from Akina Fujiwara or someone else did it.
QUINTET MAGICIAN
basically charmers plus a lot of cool stuff I was looking for…. U.U
Everything except giving them actual functioning supports
We are getting in the same deck two cards that turn Charmers into high-risk, high-reward engine that opens up small Spellbook/ Prophecy synergy.
We also just got announced more Fairy Tail cards, which work pretty well with 1850 ATK Spellcasters.
As much as I hate to say it, Charmers will never work as a coherent solo deck because they literally are just like 5 subsets of pretty mediocre and/our outdated cards stapled together with flavor and lore.
Tho I would like to see them interacting with the Fairy Tails – there’s 4 main charmers and 4 main Fairy Tail monsters, both are representing 4 classical elements. Charmers getting bunch of new familiars would not be that farfetched or weird. “Fairy Tail Charmer” or “Charmer of Fairy Tails” sounds pretty cute, you may even be fancy and go with lol “Charming Fairy Tail” and give them clause treating them as Charmers.
@FreeBagooska They only don’t work, because for some nonsensical reason, Konami refuses to retrain them into cards that fit a coherent strategy.
@HFIL – They retrained and upgraded them so many times already. Issue is that “4-6 monsters with the same statline and similar Attribute-related effects” is too restrictive, especially that it’s proven that this can lead only to disappointment or Dragon Rulers. Considering that Charmers are popular thanks to their art and lore, banning like half of them because Konami accidentally created another pile of doom just cannot happen.
I suppose making bunch of Charmers that give some advantage when send from the hand or field to GY could work? They have a lot of cards asking player to send or tribute charmers and/or monsters of certain attributes to GY.
Also new Spiritual Art for Dharc. Also maybe explaining the connection between Charmer’s lore and Duel Terminal.
@FreeBagooska You missed the words “into cards that fit a coherent strategy”. They’ve retrained them multiple times, sure, but aside (if I’m generous) the Link monsters, none of the cards work together. They have nothing to do with each other. Not a single thing, because they are generic. Retraining them into cards that have effects that work together would literally solve the core issue. Heck, lock them into spellcasters if you have to. The point remains: until Konami does this, you have to play at least 4 bricks that are literally worse than normal monsters, and no one is doing that. I’d rather roll the dice that some of them could MAYBE get banned over playing an unreasonable amount of bricks, and I bet most would agree.
CH01: Functional, elevated the deck among other things. Questionable rarity choices.
CH02: Lol.
It’s what happens when you tray to force cards that were designed against being used collectively to function as a singular strategy.
@Scionstorm No, not really. More like that’s what happens when instead of nutting up and retraining cards that obviously need it, you instead waste cardboard on stupid alts. And you can still have the alts; people will buy them as collector’s items, but no one is going to play a deck where you refuse to fix the obvious, glaring, worse-than-normal monster problems. It really isn’t relevant what they were originally designed for, because those cards do nothing too. Literally just retrain them. That’s all that needs to happen, and until Konami does that, this is pointless. No one is playing 4 bricks that are worse than normal monsters and Konami needs to stop asking that of players.
Where is Spellbook of life ? 😭
Surprisingly enough, I quite like the alternate artworks this time around. Kind of presumed I wouldn’t really care for them to much.
“In the “Duelist Kingdom: Collect Star Chips!” Limited Pack, this card was given an alternate artwork”
I completely forgot about this thing.
The alternative artworks look fine, but they also feel off… they might be from a different artist? I prefer the normal artist’s style for them personally.
Wait… Thats it? These are the new Animation Chronicles card? Just MORE alt arts instead of actual support?
Yeah, sucks, doesn’t it?
Looking at the Branded Chronicled Structure Deck, that one also got 2 new cards (1 each for Main Deck and Extra Deck) and 4 alt art cards. The difference is that 2 of the last 4 alt arts are actually on generically decent cards that make them good chase cards to get Starlight, on top of Branded being a much better archetype which made getting just 2 new cards fine. The card “The Fallen & The Virtuous” was also a good standalone mini-engine, so that also made it a good Starlight chase card.
Meanwhile, Charmers’ 2 new cards are completely unusable elsewhere, so they won’t go for much even in Starlight. Charmers needed (in addition to the 2 already announced) at least a full set of 4 new Main Deck Charmers retrains with modern effects to even be considered a rogue deck. LOL
Can’t believe they treated the two Structure Decks the same in terms of how many new support cards to give, and on top of that gave the already much better deck the more generically powerful legacy support.
Sales for this deck is going to flop so hard compared to the last one. Hopefully that won’t kill the all-foil deck lines going forward, since I actually like that these decks are all URs.
Guess this basically deconfirms the retrains the deck desperately needs. Seriously, there’s no reason for this.
I mean they said that Blazing Dominion would have cards related to the chronicles anime so it might be charmer related considering that’s the chronicles anime that will be airing when Blazing Dominion comes out
