You can only use this effect of “Veidos the Dragon of Endless Darkness” once per turn.

Nice, Ashened support, but don’t fit too well with the archetype.
There’s like what, 6 other cards unrevealed that go with new Veidos to likely make it fit.
It theoretically does actually!
A single activation of Awakening of Veidos would give you Veidos on the opponent’s field + the Continuous Trap to potentially take him back + 2 Level 9 or lower Pyros on your side of the field (that being King and Priestess) AND a Priestess search for… a Fusion Spell.
That is exactly what you need to Summon this card in 1-card; now to make it better, they’d have to make that Fusion ‘Spell’ (it could easily be a Continuous Trap too) be able to use Veidos from your opponent’s field.
That way not only do you get a S/T wipe in the fusion, you also get a monster wipe (which the Fusion is curiously immune to? I wonder what that means…) in Veidos, resulting in a full board wipe. And the Continuous Trap Veidos had Set a prior can be used to add back Veidos and as fodder for the fusion’s pop effect.
This one card makes the Deck actually have a gameplan; an easy one to access at that and that can only get better from here. There’s a LOT you can infer from a single card’s effect if you know about the context of the Deck it will be played in.

Does the wording mean it works like A-Counters?
It works like any counters you put on opponent’s monsters.
This is worded like the Predator Counters (making monsters lvl2 while they have the counter) and not like old A-counters that had no effect while depending entirely on what Alien monsters you have faceup
Both monsters are pretty meh honestly. Konami should stop making a habit of fumbling a world premiere archetype’s second wave and introducing mediocre standalones.
Now if they print a Continuous “Ashened” Super poly Trap that works with like Haunted Rock but with a proper restriction, Ashened can be super viable (haunted rock means <>)
