Never tried Vaalmonica before but the art aesthetic is starting to grow on me so I might. All I know is that they’re level 4 Pendulums/Links that play around effect damage/healing.
not ENTIRELY sure if this is anything the deck needed. And honestly a continuous trap you can’t place feels a liiiitle mid, but they do give you more grind and make things large!!
I like it, it does a lot of things (but not at the same time), if you discard it you can summon any of the link monsters easily, if you place it, you can destroy all of your opponent’s monsters in their own turn or farm more interruptions.
I mean there are like 3 main monsters i think its the same amount as the links they have now
Honestly, the trap is a 2-3 of in Vaalmonica, If you discard it to set your scales, that’s an instant 3 counters on one of them.
Being able to just load 3 counters on with a copy of Foolish Burial Goods is insane.

Do you play 3 of that for discard cost? I don’t think the deck has enough search power for it after searching their usual interruptions.
Also, having ability to link on opponent’s turn kinda devalues the link-2 a bit.
Can Konami please stop with these archetypes with the same tired themes we have had for 2 decades and give us something fresh instead?
Gonna have to define “fresh” here, because (for better or worse) Vaalmonica is pretty unique.
i would say the opposite, they should “renew” older archetypes and stop doing so much new archetypes. lets say we have around 11k cards in the game. where around 200 are viable
older decks need upgrades so they can be played again
pokemon tcg is MUCH bigger also because they keep true to their roots, being nostalgia bait or not, it works, there’s always a good charizard deck (currently tier 1), pikachus, mewtwos, etc. in yugioh we never had red-eyes meta, dark magician, harpies, etc, forgotten for some new decks that means nothing to the game, completely random cards like this snake-eye thing, is like playing a completely different game. if i play any other random copy paste game with random artworks but similar rules you cant say you are plying yugioh or not

The idea that Dark Magician is “forgotten” is one of the most wild takes ever (calling Snake-eyes “random” is pretty wild as well). Bro, Older cards get support too, hell, they usually get more support at one time than those newer cards. Honestly, I think you just want those older cards to be in the meta, but the issue is that, Konami is taking something that was made in a different time (or even just never meant to be an archetype) and trying to modernize it. You can only do so much without A. completely ignoring what makes the deck unique or B. making what can only be described as custom cards and these still usually don’t elevate it past rogue playable, because you are trying to make cards do what they weren’t designed to. Not to mention, no we haven’t had a DM, RE or HL, but guess what? We haven’t had a meta of many many newer cards either AND a lot of older cards were never meta…almost like the meta is just something chosen out of a hat… I don’t know man, just sounds a bit Yugi-boomerish. Also, Pokemon is unbalanced too.

Both cards are pretty mediocre and the Trap can’t even be sent from Deck to GY for its third effect.

Instant Reso Counters in Vallmonica? Pretty good. Vaal has many ways to send it.
Link is gonna be a Towers if you consistently send the Trap.
Even just using the effect can make you go for a beatdown strat and OTK at T2. We just need a away to protect backrow and another main deck monster.
