Welcome to my next Causal Deck Profile, and today we’re giving some love to Hazy Flame, since they’ve gone way too long without any love in the form of new cards. The Hazy Flame archretype consists of Level 6 FIRE monsters of various types, and let’s be honest – they haven’t aged well. As a result, I’ve really narrowed their representation down to two good cards: Hazy Flame Sphynx, which mills the top card of the deck, and if I milled a Monster, then you get to Special Summon any FIRE from your hand/GY. On the other hand, Hazy Flame Peryton gets us to Sphinx and another Hazy Flame monster… yeah this theme is slim pickings, sue me. They do have a semi-solid boss in Hazy Flame Basiltrice, a R6NK Pyro Xyz that can detach a material to banish an opponent’s card. While it gains effects with more material, you just aren’t going to put 3+ material under it anymore in the year of our lord 2025.
Alright, so how do we make this deck successful? Throw in more FIRE themes, that’s how! The Fire King are up first, providing the primary Normal Summon in Fire King Courtier Ulcanix as well as tons of additional extension with all of their monsters that love to be Special Summoned. There’s also a fun interaction between Sacred Fire King Garunix and Hazy Flame Cerberus, as the first destroys Cerberus in the deck when summoned, giving you entry into your Hazy engine. On the other side of the deck, we also have representation from the Snake-Eye archetype, as I decided to throw a fun Bonfire with many different FIRE representatives. The last card I want to highlight, since I don’t think I’ve fit him into a profile before, is Magmacho Dragon. This Level 8 Pyro Special Summons itself from the GY when a FIRE monster is destroyed, drawing you a card in the process. This is a fun tech option for Fire King and a few other select decks, so wanted to make sure he got his 5 seconds of fame. Anyways, enjoy the Bonfire without the Bonfire (RIP) and catch you next time with a more competitive build.

With the Zexal cards are u planning to do them With ryzeal cards
Hi there – Not currently, no. I have two Zexal CDPs currently in my production pipeline right now, and either uses Ryzeal. My concern with that is that the Onomato stuff wants you to make more than just R4NKs, so it may conflict if you get locked in. But I’ll ponder that idea more….
I’m surprised you didn’t mention Evolzar Lars. It’s a FIRE rank 6, and benefits from a lot of LV6s, one of the few things Hazy Flame can do well. In addition, Hazy Flame Hydra is a FIRE Dinosaur, and can attach additional Hazy from the GY if it’s used as XYZ material for a monster (which usually has to be FIRE, due to its self-lock). It’s not hard to get a 2-3 negate Lars plus some additional advantage off of a Peryton summon.
If you want to go extra degenerate for a mediocre payoff, the fiendsmith package and the duke of demise give you an extra normal summon, which Hazy decks desperately, desperately need.

Yooo, Hazy Flame. That’s a name I havent heard of a long time. I wonder where Konami is leaving archetypes like this. Support should have been imminent the year Snake-Eyes came out. It was after all, the year of FIRE. I always thought it would be a different side of Fire King 10 years ago.
Last time I heard Hazy Flame mentioned was when the tcg was engagement farming on social media.
