EARTH Machines and Pendulums… and I’m not talking about Qliphort.

Strategic Summary:
Welcome to today’s CDP, centered around one mission to highlight the new Superheavy Samurai support suite released to the OCG in CYAC. The Superheavy Samurai theme is composed of EARTH and DARK Machine monsters that are unique in that they reward you for not using Spell/Trap cards. While the theme has received Pendulum monsters in the past to act as pseudo-Spell cards, they haven’t received anything compared to their new Superheavy Samurai Prodigy Wakaushi (YGOrg Translation). This Level 4 Pendulum Tuner can Special Summon itself from your Pendulum Zone, after placing a different Superheavy Samurai into your other Pendulum Zone. Then later, if it is used as Synchro Material, it places itself back into the Pendulum Zone. With the help of the other new Pendulum Monster, Superheavy Samurai Monk Warrior Big Benkei (YGOrg Translation), you now have a one-card setup into a Borrelsword Savage Dragon, two Pendulum Scales for 1-8, even before using your Pendulum OR Normal Summons. To make this play even more consistent, Superheavy Samurai Bike (YGOrg Translation) now exists, discarding itself to tutor any Superheavy Samurai monster, making that combo closer to an every-game option.
As for the rest of the deck, it’s all about making the most of those additional Pendulum Scales and unlocking more Extra Deck utility options. Whether it is Pendulum Summoning Gadget monsters to tutor more Gadget monsters, Link Summoning Ancient Gear Ballista to tutor Ancient Gear Box and Infinitrack Anchor Drill, or simply leveraging Superheavy Samurai Soulgaia Booster (YGOrg Translation) to Synchro Summon Naturia Beast, this deck brings everything the Monster Card Type has to offer. This is also why my build heavily features hand traps, backing up those ridiculous negation boards possible off of a single Wakaushi with even more negation options. Don’t forget that the Superheavy Samurai also received a new boss monster in the form of Superheavy Samurai Overlord Masurao (YGOrg Translation), a Level 12 Synchro monster that lets you draw until you have 3 cards in hand when your opponent activates a Spell/Trap or effect, meaning even more potential to draw into additional hand traps. And this new boss is just a Tilting Entrainment away, due to the new Pendulum Tuner! Don’t give an inch with the muscle of the Superheavy Samurai!
