Creative Deck Profile: Folgo Assault P.U.N.K. Fur Hire, ft. POTE Support

Did someone call for furry mercenaries?

Strategic Summary:

Today’s profile centers on the Fur Hire archetype, a ragtag group of companions that Special Summon other members of the archetype and that have effects that trigger when a Fur Hire is Special Summoned. Let’s begin with Beat, Bladesman Fur Hire, as he tutors a Fur Hire monster whenever another is Special Summoned. Additionally, as with most monsters in this theme, it can Special Summon another monster ‘Fur Hire’ from the hand. That’s right, this theme also has backwards text… due to… reasons? Anyways, Filo, Messenger Fur Hire and Seal, Strategist Fur Hire are the other primary monsters, as Filo Special Summons a Fur Hire from the GY and Seal recovers a Fur Hire from the GY back to the hand. This allows you to extend your plays. Capping off Fur Hire chains are the boss monsters – Rafale, Champion Fur Hire adds a card from the top of your deck to the hand when Special Summoned, as well as carrying an effect to negate an opponent’s monster effect. Similarly, Wiz, Sage Fur Hire gains LP when Special Summoned and carries an effect to negate an opponent’s Spell/Trap. This crew is led by none other than Folgo, Justice Fur Hire, a Link 3 boss that Special Summons a Fur Hire from deck upon Link Summon. Folgo keeps it real though with its second effect – if you destroy an opponent’s card by battle or card effect, Folgo lets you draw 1 card AND 2 additional if you have 3 Fur Hire out on the board. If Folgo is this powerful, let’s talk about how the other engines here support his summoning.

First up is the Assault Mode Activate engine, led by Psi-Reflector. For those of you unfamiliar, Psi-Reflector tutors Assault Beast on summon, then Beast tutors Assault Mode Activate, then Psi-Reflector can bring Beast right back to your field by revealing that Trap Card. While this is typically used to setup for Synchro Summons, here is gives you two types for the summon of Folgo, which is Link Summoned using any 3 monsters with different types. The other engine at play here is the P.U.N.K. engine, which I most recently covered in a pure build here: RDP: Pure P.U.N.K. Art.¬†With monsters of various types held together by Level 3 Psychic tuners such as Noh-P.U.N.K. Ze Amin, this engine works brilliantly to provide a playchain into an array of additional power options such as Psychic End Punisher or P.U.N.K. JAM Dragon Drive (YGOrg Translation). Since both of these engines use Psychic monsters, Emergency Teleport is a shoe-in, giving you all your need to full combo before diverting into your Fur Hires… This explosive deck really showcases the power of the Fur Hire archetype – hope you brought the coins to pay for their services!
