CDP: Fire King Snake-Eye Rekindling, ft. Legendary Fire King Ponix

The Circle of the Fire Kings is complete, with Ponix!

Strategic Summary:

Welcome to today’s profile, this time taking the new Fire King support from their recently released Structure Deck (in the OCG) to the next level with their final support card. If you missed my first profile on the new Fire King support, be sure to check that out here:

Today’s build is definitely a much different take on the theme, because instead of just using the Fire King support to destroy other monsters, this time we use them as our primary win condition! Part of that is due to the newest baby FIRE Winged Beast, Legendary Fire King Ponix (YGOrg Translation). This Level 1 FIRE monster carries three effects that make it shine like the true star it is: First, it tutors a Fire King S/T on summon. Second, it can Special Summon itself from the hand when a FIRE monster is destroyed. Third, if it is destroyed, it returns to your hand during the next Standby Phase. Oh, and it also has 200 DEF. And for those of you who don’t know what 200 DEF means for FIRE decks – I just shake my head at your lack of recognition of one of the most powerful Spells ever printed, Rekindling. When activated, this Spell summons as many FIRE monsters with 200 DEF from your GY as possible. If you weren’t keeping track, today’s build features Ponix, Fire King Avatar Hanuman (YGOrg Translation), Fire King Avatar Barong, Fire King Avatar Avrata, and Fire King High Avatar Kirin (YGOrg Translation) as your in-theme monsters that meet this criteria. Plus, once we throw Awakening of the Possessed – Greater Inari Fire into the mix, that’s yet another one that makes the cut. Oh, and don’t let me forget Snake-Eye Oark (YGOrg Translation)!

Speaking of a Snake-Eye, let’s talk about why they’re such a great pairing with the Fire King archetype. The Snake-Eye archetype exists to support Level 1 FIRE monsters; for example, Oark gets to Special Summon or recover a Level 1 FIRE monster that is banished or in your GY when summoned. On the other hand, Snake-Eye Excel (YGOrg Translation) tutors a Level 1 FIRE on summon. Additionally, each can send itself and 1 other face-up card to the GY to Special Summon any Snake-Eye monster from the Deck, like the boss monster, Snake-Eyes Flamberge Dragon (YGOrg Translation). While of course the Level 1 support is always welcome to support Ponix, it’s Flamberge that offers even more support, as when it is sent from the hand or field to the GY, you get to Special Summon 2 Level 1 FIRE monsters from your GY. It’s also Level 8, allowing for Xyz Summons of Garunix Eternity, Hyang of the Fire Kings (YGOrg Translation), but you’ll more typically be using it as Link Material for options like Flametongue the Blazing Magical Blade (YGOrg Translation), I:P Masquerena, or even a Knightmare monster. Closing out today’s build is a small Diabellestarr engine, led by Diabellestarr the Dark Witch (YGOrg Translation) and her trusty Sinful Spoils. Remember, both Sanctuary of the Fire Kings (YGOrg Translation) and Fire Formation – Tenki stick around on your board after being utilized for their search effects, so you can easily sacrifice either to the Dark Witch or The Original Sinful Spoils – Snake-Eye (YGOrg Translation). Show your opponent who is really the King with the help of eternal FIRE!
