“I remember struggling about whether I ‘should make the design similar to the past Traptrix, or just move past it…’. ‘If the design is similar, then the tiny differences will aggressively stand out, and if they are not similar at all, then there would a lack of respect’…is a thought that still crosses my mind to this day. As a result, I drew them with a very slightly different feel. But because that’s only what I see from my point of view…that is but my own interpretation.”

TL note: Rafflesia’s release date is not much older than the first batch of Traptrix monsters, so this comment may be referring to the newer ones.

“Its motif is after the pinguicula: a carnivorous plant that [captures its prey] when it carelessly approaches a violet (which it’s similar to, yet it’s a slightly different plant), making it stick there, digesting it, and absorbing it. The [tactic] of disguising its appearance in order to prey makes one shiver. And if its disguise is that of a human, it’s even more horrifying. Because it’s a plant, it probably does not have a brain… From the point of view of the Traptrix, they are merely surviving, and it’s unjustified that one is scared of them. While it’s necessary for everyone to imitate others in order to become an adult, it sure is terrifying to be the one that is imitated.”
