“I remember struggling about whether I ‘should make the design similar to the past Traptrix, or just move past it…’. ‘If the design is similar, then the tiny differences will aggressively stand out, and if they are not similar at all, then there would a lack of respect’…is a thought that still crosses my mind to this day. As a result, I drew them with a very slightly different feel. But because that’s only what I see from my point of view…that is but my own interpretation.”
TL note: Rafflesia’s release date is not much older than the first batch of Traptrix monsters, so this comment may be referring to the newer ones.

Description of Rafflesia’s fragrance being “nice” is kinda funny because actual rafflesia flowers smell like rotten meat.
Eh, they smell like rotting flesh because it attracts flies. If Rafflesia smells ‘nice’ its to attract a different kind of prey.

I just wish they were better clothed with legs and chest covered YK, cuz some of us aren’t weird. The feet can remain bare to fit in with the whole tribal style. But still. So I hope that there is an alt art with those parts covered.

The barefeet should be tortured, there better be a card that tortures their feet, or atleast highlight that, like Ash blossom & joyous feet. Who else wants to see the traptrix feet tortured.
I mean… they are immune to Trap Hole cards so that form of torturing their feet is out of question.
…How do we make Holding Legs work against Traptrix?
Maybe darkworld shackles? Have its red vines wrap against the victim’s feet constricting and poisoning their feet. That card is soo under rated and if it was the star of an anti-traptrix deck, I reckon the whole community would be up for it. Cuz no offence but those naked, Barefoot girls need to learn some dignity, and what better than torturing the softest part of their body.
Hmm, a darkworld shackles inspired deck seems quite interesting. If Konami make a deck for it, that would be amazing, and based on what u said, they may even do a traptrix alt art for it, kinda like sky striker with ROTA.
I think the illustrator’s note on Rafflesia may be implying it’s a different artist to the original set of Traptrix. It does look a bit less like Akina Fujiwara’s work.

The first thing this reminds me of is how much of a downgrade the structure deck ice barrier artwork was.
I don’t care if they’re monstrous monsters. They’re still cute-Uh I mean they’re still my favorite trap deck. And Curalia deserves all headpats.

Does this confirm that the monsters aren’t sentient, but are just flora/fauna using human disguises as lures?
I think it may be just a guess, like “no human can be soo monstrous” when in fact they r humans, but idk, j feel like this would be a better idea, than being a disguise, cuz no one is gonna see that portrayed in artwork
Seeing Genlisea’s mouth on the back of it’s head makes me wish all the arts for the traptrix were as monstrous, Or at least had alt arts that are like that. Like the girls are cute and all but if someone saw the traptrix for the first time they wouldn’t get the fauna using humans as lures thing without someone telling them
