I expected just a Voltcondor retrain, but I am impressed Konami made a sub series for it to support it in every conceivable way. I also like Thunderbold being included in here to maintain the spirit of the original (Level 7 GY revival) without making it go overboard like last time (doing that too well).
Also like the timing with this and the SD in Duel Links – a small teaser to come for anyone to give the format a chance, even if Voltcondor initially is not that good.
It always seemed strange to me that Lightning Voltcondor received an SD in Duel Links for a strange reason. Now I understand why they chose Lightning Voltcondor precisely.
Also, in essence, Thunderbold escaped from the Banlist with this Retrain: the thunder deity does not want to remember his war crimes with the purple-suited loli with an umbrella.
This pack feels like it is catered to DL players specifically – it supports the 6 themes available at the start, and many of the cards in here are much more technical than what is already available in SEVENS World.
The issue lies in that these cards likely will not come in the foreseeable future. Support will likely be dripfed monthly and almost always picking from the early card pool. By the time these cards are released in DL, most DL players would have left the game. It does not help how stagnant the Dragoncaster meta is to start.
The smart thing for Konami to do is to alleviate these concerns. Release the complex mechanics onto Rush as early as possible – after Mimi, then Roa, Neiru (Maximums), Asana. (Maximums), Yuo (Fusions), The Lukeman (Fusions), and Tiger (Fusions), in that order. People expect modern day cards in their mobile games now so no need to wait a long time for the cards everyone wants to play.
these cards with the duel links still are nuts lol
