Strategic Summary:
Welcome back for another CDP featuring upcoming new cards, and today it is time to explore the new Unchained support arriving soon in DUNE. The Unchained arcehtype features FIRE, DARK, and WATER Fiends that revolve entirely around destruction: of each other, of their S/T support, and even of their boss monsters. For example, Unchained Twins – Aruha can destroy a card you control to Special Summon itself from the hand, or Unchained Twins – Sarama can set an Unchained card from your GY before destroying any card you control. Additionally, each of the Twins carry an effect when they’re destroyed, except by their own effect – each Special Summons a new Unchained monster from your deck. This is similar to their S/T support cards, such as Abomination’s Prison or Abominable Chamber of the Unchained, which carry an effect when destroyed while set to Special Summon an Unchained monster from your deck. The last unique trait of this theme is their ability to Link Summon DARK monsters using your opponent’s monsters, through the effects of Unchained Soul of Disaster, Unchained Soul of Rage, or Unchained Soul of Anguish.
With all of this destruction, this theme has always had access to neat combos, but additional consistency has always been a need for the theme – that is, until their newest support in DUNE. Unchained Soul Sharvara (YGOrg Translation) is a new Level 6 FIRE monster that can target a Fiend monster or Set card you control to destroy it and Special Summon itself from the hand. Additionally, whenever it is sent to the GY, you get to set any Unchained S/T from your deck. Not only does this synergize with every other Unchained card, but it also sets up further plays later in your turn as needed. On the other hand, Unchained Soul Shyama (YGOrg Translation) is the Level 6 WATER, which can target a Fiend or Set card you control, destroy it, then Special Summon itself back from your GY. With these two new Souls, you will have consistency like never before, and that’s even before adding in their new LINK-2 monster, Unchained Soul King Yama (YGOrg Translation), which can tutor any Unchained monster when Special Summoned. Combine all these new threats with Diabolica, Dragon Fiend Commander (YGOrg Translation) which can Special Summon itself from the hand or GY when a Fiend monster is sent to the GY by card effect, and you will have access to so much material for all of your needs. Want to Link Summon even more? They got you. Want to destroy even more with Unchained Abomination? You have no issues getting material for its summon. Want to branch into Xyz Summoning? D/D/D Wave High King Caesar is now a realistic option. Let the soul-dogs out with the Unchained!
