You’re telling me Rituals are back!?
Replays:
Strategic Summary:
Welcome back for another CDP featuring Chaos Origins themes, and this time we’re going back to the Ritual of Light and Darkness [RoLaD] theme, named for the initial translation of Light and Darkness Ritual, that recently made its debut. This theme revolves around Black Chaos, Magician of Black Chaos – Black Chaos, and Black Luster Soldier – Soldier of Light and Darkness, putting a heavily modern spin on a Ritual strategy. If you missed my mega article back when these cards were initially revealed, I’d highly recommend checking it out now here: https://ygorganization.com/cds_chaosritualx4/ .
Alright, now that you’re back, let’s talk about what makes this deck so damn good. Well first off, it is highly consistent, with Griffoh or Black Chaos getting you access to Mind Shuffle, then once you do, it can add and send Skull Archfiend of Chaos to the GY, letting you tutor any Ritual Monster whose name is mentioned on a Ritual Spell by sending the Ritual Spell to the GY. Adding even more to consistency is Ragged Records of Rites and Pre-Preparation of Rites, and that should be more than enough to set you on a victorious path. As for when you make your first Ritual Summon… well that’s where things start to go off the rails, with both of your marquee Rituals being quite difficult to disrupt and get off of your board. But if you do have the tools to make your first Chaos Ritual, well, you can leverage all that consistency to get to your Mitsurugi engine instead!
That’s right, the Mitsurugi are back and yes, they fill their role quite well of spamming endless material to the board. You see, a copy of Ame no Habakiri no Mitsurugi leads to 2 Level 4 monsters and 2 Level 8 monsters, which then in turn can turn into Primathmech Alembertian. This is important as that gives you access to Mathmech Circular, a Level 4 non-Tuner, and Mathmech Diameter, a Level 4 Tuner, which allows you to summon a new Level 8 Synchro Monster: The Three Brave Swordsouls. If you weren’t already familiar, this LIGHT/Spellcaster tutors any Level 4 or 8 Spellcaster with equal ATK/DEF on summon, and one of those tutoring options is the one and only, Pharaonic Advent. What can you search with Advent? Any Continuous Trap, that’s what. In today’s build, I’m showcasing the combo with Anti-Spell Fragrance, but the world is your oyster if you want to lock down other options instead!
To close out today’s description, I also want to callout a few other cool engines/techs at play in the build. First up is Ancient Secrets (YGOrg Translation), a new Normal Spell from UT01 that Summons a Normal Monster on activation, or gives you a choice between powerful effects if you already have a Normal Monster. As a Level 4 Spellcaster with equal ATK/DEF, The Magical King of Dimension Zeta (YGOrg Translation) can be a great choice, especially since it is also accessible via Magikey Spirit – Vepartu if you need a powerful effect from Secrets! Next, I’m also running Chaos Magical Hats alongside three great Normal Traps: Waking the Dragon, Boo-Boo Game, and Distrust Paranoia. Each of these options carry devastating consequences from being destroyed, giving you quite a powerful response to your opponent’s activation. Then finally, I also want to highlight the other TCG WP card for this theme, Mortilux Heruvur, a R8NK Xyz Monster that attaches monster(s) from the opponent’s GY when sent there, plus it prevents the opponent from targeting cards in either GY with card effects! Make the most of your Rituals, with the new RoLaD strategy!
