The Geometric FLIPs; new support on all sides!
Replays:
Strategic Summary:
Today’s CDP features a new mashup of two archetypes, and a bunch of new BLZD support cards that make both sing! I’m going to start with the Enneacraft, a theme of Machine Pendulum FLIP monsters that can flip themselves face-up in response to the actions of your opponent. For example, the new Enneacraft – Atil.SPIA gets to respond whenever your opponent activates any card or effect as CL3 or higher, flipping itself up and negating all activations and effects of your opponents’ cards in the chain. While there is a new Level 1 Enneacraft as well, the far more impactful card is Enneacraft Reset, a Normal Spell that places Enneapolis onto the field, removing the need to run multiple copies of dead weight to ensure access to it. Lastly, BLZD has also blessed the Enneacraft with an early release of Subspace Battle, a Normal Spell that – in most matchups – will result in 3 of your big Enneacraft monsters being added to hand and 1500 damage to the opponent. Now all these FLIP monsters stand well on their own, but how do we get around their Special Summoning restriction? Just choose to summon more things in face-down defense!
Next up in today’s build is the Mimighoul archetype, originally a TCG World Premiere theme that centered around giving monsters to the opponent then flipping them face-up to force their effects to resolve. They’ve also received new support in BLZD – such as Mimighoul Flower, a new Level 1 Plant option that when activated on the opponent’s field, forces you to tutor any FLIP monster or Mimighoul card! Combine this with Mimighoul Maker to search any FLIP monster while summoning one to your opponent’s field, and you’ll gain quite a foothold over the duel. Of course, you won’t be always able to full combo with Mimighoul and with Enneacraft, but between the two, you’ll definitely be able to do one of the two major combo routes, as showcased across the various replays in the profile.
On a closing note, I want to do a quick deep-dive into the ratios of my Enneacraft lineup, just in case you are interested in trying out this deck yourself. First up, Enneacraft – Atori.MAR is your insulation when going 2nd, responding to an opponent’s card or effect activated on the field, so of course 3 copies is essential. As for the other Level 9 Enneacraft monsters, 1 copy each is far and away enough to add a bit of intrigue without bogging down your hand with dead weight. Next, let’s talk about the searching Enneacrafts that are mainly used for their Pendulum Effects. 3 copies each of 3 of the Level 1 Enneacrafts offers a wide enough range to always be able to guarantee a search of another searcher when needed, then 1 copy of the 4th Enneacraft is all you need since you’ll want to place that on your field with Enneacraft Release. Lastly, 2 copies each of the other Enneacraft Spells is perfect to hedge your bets for accessing one, without drawing too many bricks consistently. If you have other thoughts on the Enneacraft ratios – please let me know – I’d love to hear your theory behind them!
Q Note: As of the publishing of this CDP, I’ll be on a well-earned vacation, and taking a break for the month from my normal CDP cadence. Apologies in advance if a new F/L list drops, since this profile among others have been pre-staged, but still feel free to leave your thoughts/comments below and I’ll get back to them in my own time. Thanks for your understanding!
