Strategic Summary:
Today’s CDP features the return of the DoomZ to my channel, now that we have the expanded Power Patron support to leverage across each of the Medius the Pure Lore themes, and while I am an Artmage stan, there is no denying that DoomZ got the best of this new support wave. The DoomZ archetype consists of DARK Dragons that ‘upgrade’ themselves into WIND Machine Xyz monsters, typically while equipped with an Equip Card. For example, DoomZ XIII Zero – Drastea destroys a DoomZ card you control, summons itself from hand and equips itself with an Equip Spell from Deck. Then while equipped, it can turn itself into any WIND Machine Xyz with the same Rank as its Level, which will typically be DoomZ VII End – Drastrius. What’s new now is that this deck can upgrade any of their Xyz monsters into a new DoomZ Xyz – the R5NK DoomZ XIII Over – Graflario (YGOrg Translation). This new monster can detach a material to tutor a DoomZ S/T, then destroy a card on the field. Later when destroyed by card effect, Graflario can also Special Summon any non-Xyz DoomZ from your Deck or GY. This pairs EXTREMELY well with DoomZ Raiders, since that can get you two monsters out of the deck now… including their new Level 10 option!
Time to embrace the Power Patron, as Power Patron Shadow Machine Zegredo (YGOrg Translation) is here! This Level 10 Pendulum is also treated as a DoomZ, but its primary use is its ability to faux-Xyz Summon Jupiter the Power Patron of Destruction from your Extra Deck at the small cost of banishing the top 3 cards of your deck facedown, and destroying itself. That second part isn’t even a downside, as when its added to your Extra Deck, it tutors any Power Patron or DoomZ S/T. The other key Power Patron card for today is Vidrium the Power Patron of Chaos Extermination (YGOrg Translation), a Level 12 Pendulum that can destroy itself to Special Summon a Power Patron from GY, then it tutors a Power Patron card when added to your Extra Deck. You see, both of these contribute to getting free Level 10 monsters on your board… which means DoomZ can now reliably add Varudras, the Final Bringer of the End Times to their End Board! How fitting. To round out today’s build, I’ve also included a Branded engine centered around The Fallen & The Virtuous, since it can send both a Fusion in Albion the Branded Dragon and a Synchro in Ecclesia and the Dark Dragon to the GY, giving you the material to summon Vidrium from your Extra Deck later in the duel.
