AI, Quizzes, and YGO – what goes together better than that?
Premise:
Let’s play a game! In each video, I’ll give you a series of images generated by AI, based off of various prompts. Your job is to guess the correct answer, in the time allotted. Credit for the generated images for these quizzes goes to Meta AI, now imbedded in Facebook for everyone’s pleasure… or displeasure. Who knows, I for one am ready for our computer overlords.
Guess That Normal Monster Videos:
In these videos, you’ll be charged with guessing the Normal Monster, generated off of its flavor text.
Guess That Field Spell Videos:
In these videos, you’ll be charged with guessing the Field Spell, generated off of its name.
Guess That Character Video:
In these videos, you’ll be charged with guessing the Anime Character, generated off of a prompt asking AI to imagine that character as a bird. Yes, it’s weird, but welcome to the internet.
What do you think about this type of content? Please leave your feedback in the comments on whether or not you’d be interested in seeing more videos like this in the future or different types of quick YGO trivia!
Note: This was just an experiment, and I’ll soon be back to posting my normal CDPs that you’ve grown to expect from me. If you wish to see a CDP for an archetype, theme, or strategy you love, feel free to private message me on the YGOrg Discord server, the comments section of any of my YouTube videos, or just post a comment in response to this article on our Facebook page or through the site with your ideas for me to keep under consideration! On most YGO-related communities my username is Quincymccoy, so feel free to reach out.

This aint news about new cards or anything tcg/ocg related 🙁
I don’t mind the non-news content. I enjoy the CDPs, even! But yeah, AI isn’t the direction to go in for this content
I would strongly discourage AI usage in future articles… if you wanted to you could have easily commissioned real artists to generate images based on these prompts… instead you’re using tools that steal and rip off from artists and photographers. I don’t care if AI is popular, image generation like this denies opportunities to real humans.
Hopefully ygorg doesn’t decide to start replacing its article writers with AI too… see how you like it then.
Your name is really fitting XD
Cope and seethe. The whole point is that the AI does a bad job understanding what is supposed to be displayed. If a human did it they would draw something comprehensible, not monarch butterflies for “monarch’s domain”. The exhibition of the failures of AI to correctly comprehend the prompt is what makes it a puzzle. Not really the type of thing I’m into, but it’s just for fun. Get over it.
I also suggest you look into how image generation AI works as explained by an actual computer scientist and not what you read on Twitter. I don’t want to get into it in the comments section of a yugioh article, but if you understand how it actually works I think it’s a bit of a stretch to call it stealing. Maybe unethical still, but not stealing.
Kevin, the main issue is that some of those images would normally be licensed or their artists/photographers would be given some amount of remuneration for the use of their work in other works that are used commercially.
And a decent bunch of the known training databases for them just sidestep that entirely. The closest word we can use for that currently is “stealing”, since even if it doesn’t take the image itself and tries to resell it as something new by itself, it is taking the work from the people who generated it and directly competing against what normally would be their customer base, more often than not.
All that said, I agree the concept of the video is at least good, and it is more of a question of what AI might have been used for it, rather than if it is objectionable or not, because of the fact NO ONE expects the AI to give an easily recognizable image no matter what (and, as I said, it is an issue of the particular database that was used for it, which one can expect at this point there would exist some that either use images with permission/proper licensing or use images in the public domain).
Hi!
Just to be clear – This was an experiment to try something different with my non-News content, as well as showcase just how literally (and poorly) AI generates images. In almost every case, it is a testament to just how awesome the artists behind cards are, that they’re able to convey the meaning much better than a computer.
As far as articles are concerned, all of my content is written and/or created by me, and i don’t want to be replaced by an AI, so i understand that. But there is a different between doing something that would be achieved better by a human (make a better version of this cards art) and doing something to exploit the technology (can you guess what the computer came up with).
Happy to engage further on this topic, if you have further questions.
“tools that steal and rip off from artists and photographers.”
I mean, unless artists NEVER see others’ work, they kinda do the same thing no?
You can never punish an artist for absorbing (in his brain) the artworks that he happens to see during his life, which will undeniably have an impact on his own work, regardless of how small or deep it is.
Generative models kinda do the same thing in the end, but at a much much faster scale.
As sad as this is, it’s similar to how industrial furniture and decorations threw the hand-made market to the margin (more expensive, slower, less standardizable). You may argue that furniture is utility while artwork is pure art. but most people nowadays need art just as a utility as well (to illustrate an article, for a thumbnail, …)
digital artwork is just gonna become more refined and nichely required, like paintings.
No.
Just no.
“I for one welcome our computer overlords”
I want you to remember that when you get replaced by ChatGPT, Quincy.
Bro what are y’all doing????
“Don’t listen to them, Quincy! They are just a bunch of crybabies. Post however you like about Yu-Gi-Oh!”
At first, that was what I wanted to say, but after I saw your content videos, I immediately changed my mind. “What even is this?! What have I done wrong in my life to witness something like this?”
I think this was a fine experiment to try out and I enjoyed trying to guess some of these, but the topic might be a bit too sensitive at the moment.
i feel like instead of a flavor text promt, couldnt you use the actual card art as the promt.
I think it was a fun and fine AI experiment. the pictures sometimes are totally unrelated, but that would have been the case too if you commissioned an artist and provided him with nothing but the flavor text, with the absolute requirement that he must never have seen the artwork and can’t search for more details.
Otherwise, it would have been a case of asking an artist to “take this artwork and re-create it in a different style” which wouldn’t be fun at all. fan-made artwork is all over the place.
If only for that, this actually confirms that artwork is much much more powerful than flavor text and lore. People have been deducing complete lore and archetype stories just from the artworks without a single bit of flavor text (since normal monsters are so rare).
this was cool thank you!
i dont believe we should be doing this
This sucks, dude.
I think this is cool. I did find it easy guessing with the pictures.
Agreed. This sucks.
absolutely garbage content. If you are just gonna make AI slop then just stick to the news. Thats what we are all here for anyway.
Nice.
kinda amusing, since the picture it sharts out usually has nothing to do with anything…but please, never do this again.
this is a cute idea, but i really discourage the use of ai image generation in general. im down for articles that are silly like this but maybe in a different format yknow >.>
AI is disgusting to use and this is kinda scummy :/ Pleeease refrain from using it in the future. Kinda disappointed in ygorg now.
How is it digusting and scummy? You do know that Meta uses images they have the license to use for training purposes right?
Please stick to deck profiles if you’re going to upload non news content to this site, this isn’t what anyone comes to this site for. I don’t care if it’s AI or not but this isn’t news or preventing misinformation.
That’s crazy saying what they can and can’t post on their site
It’s called voicing an opinion, and it seems that I and a number of other people have issues with non news related content appearing on the site I imagine the sharp majority of users come to for up to date and reliable news about this game, as is your opinion that they can do whatever they want with it because it’s their site.
It may be your opinion and you are indeed free to voice it, but it doesn’t mean that it’s not irrelevant or that it’s of any value whatsoever.
I know this was an experiment, but I would like to remind you and everyone else on the YGOrg staff that this is a news site. This is not news. I couldn’t care less about AI discourse. What has been posted just now has not been news. Please reconsider the type of content you regularly put on a news website.
I guess you are outraged by any CDP, aren’t you?
Not remotely. I don’t get upset at what other people post on the internet.
My point is that you were all “don’t post anything non-news on a news site!!!”, and CDP is not news, but I’ve never heard any criticism against them.
