Is it safe to assume “Number 37: Spider Shark” and ““Number 38: Titanic Galaxy” are abbreviations of both those cards’ long-ass names?
No.
The originals were better.
Also I don’t believe these were from the manga so these are manga inspired game originals.

Yes and no. Yes, they appeared in the manga for, like, a page or two. No, they weren’t ACTUALLY used as actual cards. Yuma used Shining Hope Road to treat the OG Number 37/38 as “Number S” monsters, so that he could overlay them with Utopia the Lightning to make Utopic Zexal, which required 3 Number S monsters as materials in the manga.
Number S38 Attack Directly probably inspired by Titanic Moth’s effect as both half themself in away when using the ability to attack directly. But S38 sucks 100% turn your Spell negate with attack changing effect into slow spell/trap removal.
How are both the xyzs somehow worse than their original versions

Is there a bit of a hiccup here? “Number 38: Titanic Galaxy” & “Number 37: Spider Shark” aren’t real cards from what I remember, I’m guessing someone forgot to use the full card names.

I love them
Good, really good. 1) Revelation of Hope send BEWD to the GY to bring N.38. 2) Banish BE in GY with Chaos Form for Chaos MAX. 3) Galaxy Journey retrieves BE or a better thing. 4) Banish N.38 for REDMD, Journey triggers and gets N.38 back. 5) REDMD gets another Dragon. 6) You control 5 Dragons with a not very unlikely starting hand. And if you were lucky you could even use A Deal with Dark Ruler to bring Berserk Dragon from the Deck, too. Gimmicky but fun.
As written here, I believe both are would be impossible to summon with their effects, as we have Number 37: Hope Woven Dragon Spider Shark and Number 38: Hope Harbinger Dragon Titanic Galaxy. Names definitely don’t fit the criteria, unless they change to match.

On one hand, I’m all for Galaxy Photon love. On the other… Eh, these cards are really not doing it for me. Getting rid of 2 of your opponent’s back row is nice and all, especially since they can’t use the targeted cards to interrupt, but I honestly think you’re just better off negating a spell with base Hope Harbinger. And getting 200 Atk for each overlay unit just isn’t really worth it. I’m so sorry Kite.

It’s more optimal to soft-ftk than to not soft-ftk who would’ve known? No. 38 should be banishing itself until the end phase after the negate to begin with, at least maintaining the galaxy-eyes mechanic would make me feel something.
So use normal 38 for going first, and S38 for going second?
The only valid targets I can see for the Revelation of Hope spell are:
– Number 62 to then get into his Chaos form.
– Indigo-Eyes dragon that on summon negates the opponents board
– Number 38 with the Spell card absorption
– Any Rank 8 Galaxy-Eyes to go into Cypher blade, Cypher X and/or Full Armor
– Dragluxion to get a free search
The rest are pretty much useless without materials unlike those that I inlisted. Maybe you can find more interactions than I did but that’s all from me.
Also, for some reason I thought the island in the artwork is the home island of people with eyes of blue
And the “S must stand for suck because they’ve generally all been bad.
So the leaks that we’re getting an upgraded form of Hope Harbinger were true, too bad it’s worst than the original 😔
