Yu-Gi-Oh! League 20th Edition
The 6th Participant Has Been Decided!!
Voice Actor Hoshino Takanori has been decided as the 6th member! This time, we’ll be asking Hoshino-san about his love of the “Official Card Game”!!
He’s familiar to fans as the voice actor of Jack in “5D’s”. He is also known to be a “Official Card Game” Duelists, will he be able to overwhelm the “Yu-Gi-Oh! League”!?
That Deck is “Go, Yusei!”
Q: So when was the time you Dueled the most?
Hoshino: I think I was most into it during 5D’s. Back when “Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier” came out. I wanted to make character decks, but at the time it was still difficult to build a Jack themed Deck. To be quite honest, I prefer making and playing more fan and casual oriented Deck rather than chasing the metagame, so I tend to construct Decks designed to throw my opponent for a loop.
Q: Can you remember anything about the kind of Decks you built back then?
Hoshino: A “KA-2 Des Scissors (*2)” and “Needle Burrower”. I enjoyed myself while saying “Go, Yusei!” as I played my monsters, ahah. When playing with friends, we’d play either with the themes we liked most or with casual Decks, and we were mostly concerned with having fun with one another
Q: So when did you actually start to really build a Jack style Deck?
Hoshino: I started building it in earnest about the time cards like “Celestial Wolf Lord, Blue Sirius” used by the manga version of Jack started to come out. Afterwards, with “ARC-V”, it really solidified with the various “Resonators”, “Red” monsters and Synchro Monsters. Frankly, it feels like the Age of Jack has finally arrived in the last two years.
* 1 “Tag Force” Series = Video Games released for the Playstation Portable. They were a popular series where you could enjoy Dueling by teaming up with many different characters, including characters that appeared in the Anime.
* 2 “KA-2 Des Scissors” = He’s referring to the fact it looks like a crab, as Duelists often joke that Fudo Yusei (the protagonist of 5D’s) has hair shaped like a crab.
Q: *Chuckle* These days you usually need Link Monsters to play Synchro Monsters, so how many do you include in your Deck?
Hoshino: I don’t use any, unlike most people. I focus on evolving my “Red Dragon Archfiend”s and bringing them back from the Graveyard, but obviously, I’ll use my opponent’s Link Arrows if I have the chance. The basic gameplan of a Jack Deck is to continue evolving “Red Dragon Archfiend”, which is Jack’s Soul. And since my Deck filled to the brim with “Red Dragon Archfiend”s, I don’t use any Link Monsters.
