If you haven’t heard of this, you’re in for a treat.

Over the past few months, players have figured out ways to play a certain combination of cards to First-Turn Kill the opponent through using the Mitsurigi strategy. This FTK originated through Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel, and it has been seen all over the rank ladder, so players adapted it to the TCG format, and even currently this strategy is still legal in both the Master Duel and TCG formats. While at a recent regional, a handful of players were using this FTK for quick wins when the opponent drew no interaction to their combos, as all you need for this is a way to Special Summon 2 Level 4 DARK Monsters and Level 8 monsters, which Mitsurugi happens to be excellent at doing. This article will showcase the cards used in this combo and break down step-by-step how to use this combo.

    The Important Cards to FTK

Each card in this FTK is essential to the deck, and there will be a breakdown of all the important cards that are used in this deck.

Rank-Up-Magic Argent Chaos Force is the one and only Rank-Up-Magic Spell Card you will be using throughout this combo. It is used a few times in the combo to Rank-Up into Number C107: Neo Galaxy-Eyes Tachyon Dragon, CXyz Gimmick Puppet Fanatix Machinix, and Number C15: Gimmick Puppet Giant Hunter to fulfill the FTK.

Both Gimmick Puppet Fantasix Machinix and CXyz Gimmick Puppet Fanatix Machinix are important to the combo. Gimmick Puppet Fantasix Machinix lets you add any Rank-Up-Magic Spell from your Deck to your hand, which will be the main way to get your Rank-Up-Magic Argent Chaos Force. With CXyz Gimmick Puppet Fanatix Machinix, you can detach a material from itself to Special Summon a monster from either GY, which lets you Special Summon the Number C107: Neo Galaxy-Eyes Tachyon Dragon from your GY to the opponent’s field, as it was Xyz Summoned properly through Rank-Up-Magic Argent Chaos Force.

The cards that allow you to burn your opponent are both Raidraptor – Fiend Eagle and Number C15: Gimmick Puppet Giant Hunter. Accessing both of these cards is extremely easy, as Raidraptor – Fiend Eagle is summoned to the field by the effect of Raider’s Knight by detaching a material from this card to Special Summon 1 “The Phantom Knights”, “Raidraptor”, or “Xyz Dragon” Xyz that is 1 Rank higher or lower than this card. Then for Number C15: Gimmick Puppet Giant Hunter is Xyz Summoned by Rank-Up-Magic Argent Chaos Force, targeting the copy of Gimmick Puppet Fantasix Machinix to Xyz Summon the card. With these two cards being able to pick Number C107: Neo Galaxy-Eyes Tachyon Dragon, which you Special Summon to your opponent’s field, to do a total of 9000 LP damage.

    The Mitsurugi FTK Combo

For the full Mitsurugi FTK combo, it gets a bit complex, but this is a step-by-step guide on how to achieve it.

    1. Activate Ame no Habakiri no Mitsurugi in hand effect to Special Summon a copy of Mitsurugi no Mikoto, Saji from your Deck, then tribute the copy of Saji Special Summoned from Habakiri.
    2. Activate the tribute effect of Mitsurugi no Mikoto, Saji in the GY to add a copy of Mitsurugi Ritual from your Deck to your hand.
    3. Activate Mitsurugi Ritual to Ritual Summon from your hand the copy of Ame no Habakiri no Mitsurugi by tributing both Mitsurugi no Mikoto, Kusanagi and Mitsurugi no Mikoto, Aramasa from your Deck.
    4. Chain 1: Activate the tributed effect of Mitsurugi no Mikoto, Kusanagi in the GY and target Mitsurugi Ritual to add to your hand. Chain 2: Activate the tribute effect of Mitsurugi no Mikoto, Aramasa to add a copy of Futsu no Mitama no Mitsurugi from your Deck to your hand.
    5. Activate Mitsurugi Ritual to Ritual Summon from your Deck a copy of Ame no Murakumo no Mitsurugi by tributing the copy of Futsu no Mitama no Mitsurugi from your hand.
    6. Activate the effect of Futsu no Mitama no Mitsurugi effect, after being tributed from Mitsurugi Ritual, to add a copy of Mitsurugi Prayers from your Deck to your hand.
    7. Activate Mitsurugi Prayers, tributing your Ame no Habakiri no Mitsurugi for the cost to apply both effects. This searches for a second copy of Mitsurugi no Mikoto, Aramasa, and takes 800 Damage to Special Summon the copy of Mitsurugi no Mikoto, Saji from your GY.
    8. Activate the effect of Ame no Habakiri no Mitsurugi, after being tributed from Mitsurugi Prayers, to add Mitsurugi Mirror from your Deck to your hand, then Special Summon itself from the GY.
    9. Activate Mitsurugi Mirror by tributing your Ame no Murakumo no Mitsurugi to Ritual Summon the copy of Futsu no Mitama no Mitsurugi from your GY.
    10. Activate the effect of Ame no Murakumo no Mitsurugi, after being tributed from Mitsurugi Mirrors, to add Mitsurugi Great Purification from your Deck to your hand, then Special Summon itself from the GY.
    11. Overlay both Ame no Murakumo no Mitsuruigi and Ame no Habakiri no Mitsurugi to Xyz Summon Gimmick Puppet Fantasix Machinix.
    12. Activate the effect of Gimmick Puppet Fantasix Machinix, by detaching 1 material from this card, to add 1 Rank-Up-Magic Spell from your Deck to your hand. This is where you search for a copy of Rank-Up-Magic Argent Chaos Force.
    13. Activate Rank-Up-Magic Argent Chaos Force, targeting Gimmick Puppet Fantasix Machinix to Xyz Summon into Number C107: Neo Galaxy-Eyes Tachyon Dragon.
    14. Activate the effect of Number C107: Neo Galaxy-Eyes Tachyon Dragon by detaching the Gimmick Puppet Fantasix Machinix from this card to negate the effects of all face-up cards currently on the field and your opponent cannot activate cards and effects, until the end of this turn.
    15. Next, Xyz Summon Galaxy-Eyes Full Armor Photon Dragon by using 1 Galaxy-Eyes Xyz you control and which happens to be Number C107: Neo Galaxy-Eyes Tachyon Dragon.
    16. This Xyz Summon will trigger the GY effect of Rank-Up-Magic Argent Chaos Force to add it back to your hand.
    17. Activate Rank-Up–Magic Argent Chaos Force, targeting Galaxy-Eyes Full Armor Photon Dragon to Xyz Summon CXyz Gimmick Puppet Fanatix Machinix.
    18. When CXyz Gimmick Puppet Fanatix Machinix is Xyz Summon, you can use the GY effect of Gimmick Puppet Fantasix Machinix in your GY to Special Summon itself from your GY, then you can add 1 Rank-Up-Magic Spell from your GY to your hand, being the copy of Rank-Up-Magic Argent Chaos Force once again.
    19. Activate the effect of CXyz Gimmick Puppet Fanatix Machinix by detaching 1 material from this card, being the Number C107: Neo Galaxy-Eyes Tachyon Dragon, to Special Summon Number C107: Neo Galaxy-Eyes Tachyon Dragon from your GY to your opponent’s field.
    20. Normal Summon the copy of Mitsurugi no Mikoto, Aramasa from your hand that was searched on Step 7.
    21. Overlay both the Mitsurugi no Mikoto, Aramasa and Mitsurugi no Mikoto, Saji to Xyz Summon Raider’s Knight.
    22. Activate Raider’s Knight to Special Summon from your Extra Deck, 1 “The Phantom Knights”, “Raidraptor”, or “Xyz Dragon” Xyz that is 1 Rank higher or lower than this card. This will allow you to Special Summon a copy of Raidraptor – Fiend Eagle that is also treated as an Xyz Summon.
    23. Activate the effect of Raidraptor – Fiend Eagle by detaching 1 material to target the Number C107: Neo Galaxy-Eyes Tachyon Dragon you Special Summoned to your opponent’s field to burn the original Attack of the monster, dealing 4500 LP.
    24. Then activate the copy of Rank-Up-Magic Argent Chaos Force, targeting the copy of Gimmick Puppet Fantasix Machinix to Xyz Summon into Number C15: Gimmick Puppet Giant Hunter.
    25. Finally, activate the effect of Number C15: Gimmick Puppet Giant Hunter by detaching 1 material for this card to target 1 card the opponent controls, which will be the Number C107: Neo Galaxy-Eyes Tachyon Dragon, and since it was a monster, it will inflict 4500 LP damage to your opponent as it will be equal to the original ATK of the monster destroyed.

This combo will make them take an exact 9000 LP damage just from this combo alone. This article will provide a sample deck list for you to try it out and learn this combo to see where the points of interactions are to stop the FTK.

    Questions and Answers

There are a few questions to be asked about this First-Turn Kill itself.

How consistent is the current version of the FTK?
    • It is extremely consistent, as you can either start with Mitsurugi Prayers or Ame no Habakiri no Mitsurugi, or any other way that can get you to Ame no Habakiri no Mitsurugi, like Pre-Preparation of Rites to search for Mitsurugi Mirror and Habakiri itself.

What is the main card that makes this FTK possible?
    • The main card that makes this FTK possible is a card that can help Rank-Up your Xyz Monsters into a Rank 5 or higher Number or Number C Xyz Monster; it happens to be Rank-Up-Magic Argent Chaos Force.

What are some of the best options to shutdown this FTK?
    • Using Infinite Impermanence on CXyz Gimmick Puppet Fanatix Machinix to stop the opponent from Special Summoning Number C107: Neo-Galaxy Eyes Tachyon Dragon.
    • Another option is Nibiru, the Primal Being, once they use the Mitsurugi Ritual Monsters for an Xyz Summon of Gimmick Puppet Fantasix Machinix, as both Mitsurugi Ritual Monsters will be used for its Xyz Summon or even on the summon of Raidraptor – Fiend Eagle later in their combo.

When is this combo most useful in matches?
    • This combo is great if your opponent isn’t expecting it during Game 1, as it becomes extremely powerful when your opponent opens up no forms of interruptions, like effects that activate in the hand, like Droll & Lock Bird, Infinite Impermanence, Nibiru, the Primal Being, etc.

    The Conclusion

First-Turn Kills have always been in the game of Yu-Gi-Oh! And everyone isn’t a stranger to one, since every player new and old has tried one once. It can ruin a player’s day if they play in a large-scale tournament, local OTS/LGS tournament, or even for fun. As First-Turn Kills come and go, there will always be a new one brewing in the shadows waiting for its time to strike, and the next one will come sooner as players think as the TCG awaits the new Toon cards being released in the OCG’s Revolution Booster: Toons / Witchcrafter / Unchained set in the future.
