This is better than torrential cuz it can be used over and over and prevents opponents from summoning more than 4…

Too balanced, easy to dodge, no real benefits against most stuff. Won’t see play. 2nd effect should’ve net you a card draw or something extra.

Nobody plays torrential tribute and that card can activate from face down on any summon and is a normal trap so it can’t be stopped from resolving by removal. Your opponent has 3 summons to out this card and can out it by chaining like, the fallen and the virtuous to it. It is objectively bad.

      • zeno on January 4, 2026 9:00 am

no its pretty bad unless you build a weird deck around it and only when you go first. it might be decent in the future when the call of the haunted cards come out.

      • Hibigloom on January 4, 2026 9:47 am

After 2 decades of experience in this game, I can tell its pretty bad

      • Lifedeather on January 4, 2026 6:53 pm

Facts, idk what is up with these comments/comment sections, I read the card seems pretty cool and good to me, goes to comments and it’s filled with “so bad, pack filler, sux, trash, not meta, useless…” wtf and the article went up not even an hour and apparently a community consensus and decision has been made without our knowledge lol and speaks for all of us…

      • John Stellarum on January 4, 2026 7:35 pm

It’s a Continuous Trap, and its second effect doesn’t have the “even if this card leaves the field” clause that some permanent cards possess. This card may or may not see play depending on the presence of backrow removal in the meta, but chances are that it won’t simply because it’s a Continuous Trap, which means you have to Set it for a turn before you can activate it, and it must remain on the field for its effects to apply or resolve.

      • MonkeyMallet on January 5, 2026 4:15 am

Back in the Pojo days, a lot of the card reviewers would talk s*** about a new card only for said card to be limited / forbidden after a couple of months. So I agree that there is no way to judge until the card is set out into the wild.

    7. Burn is awesome on January 4, 2026 7:28 am

This could be very synergistic with Phantasm Spiral. Pacifis summons a token every time your opponent activates an effect, and they can protect it with Sea Stealth Attack to use its effect multiple times per turn.

      Reply
      • Dakota on January 4, 2026 3:44 pm

and with decks like Runik that really dont even use monsters…this can potentially be one sided.
then you have odions trap monsters that have some recyclability to make lossing them mean little. (and the added benifit of summoning on opponents turn thus triggering shock.)

and then there is Horus….no big deal if they get sent to grave cause you can bring them right back out anyway.
you could also use this in a radient typhoon deck ,and if things get too much for you …pop it with your MST while negating an opponents card at the same time.

I like it, not opt, doesn’t send itself to do the board wipe and it counts both players summons so you could force it if your opp plays under it. Might be a fun pick for alt formats.

crazy how “slop” is the new word of this generation, the moment I see it I cannot take the comment/person saying it seriously anymore. Literally anywhere you go these days, some people will find some rendition of slop to use. First its AI Slop which is used everywhere, now backrowslop, then it’s friendslop, then it’s gameslop, then it’s industryslop…etc. Everything now has the word “slop” attached to it and why… so annoying to hear the word slop part of everything, sometimes the word loses meaning when everything attached to something you may not like or think is good has the word slop after it…

This card can be triggered more than once. It’ll need time for this Trap to become a problem in the future.

We can use more backrow hate, too.

It sends your board, too. The card is just really slow and really bad, Torrential Tribute that can easily be putted with a Knightmare Phoenix.

      • Dudegrey on January 4, 2026 8:52 am

If people used backrow removal there’d be less continuous S/T and field spells on the list.

      • pharaohyami5000 on January 4, 2026 11:28 am

@Dudegrey I’m hoping for backrow hate that negates or flip facedown face-up Spells/Traps in the future.

I’m also hoping for cards that cancels out lingering effects.

    14. FreeBaguska on January 4, 2026 8:21 am

      It’s… an interesting card?
Obviously it reminds me of Nibiru and TT, but the true value here is the soft-floodgate effect. If your opponent has no ways to remove this card from the field, they kinda are screwed. There’s no way to build field with only 2 summons – 3 means that on the next turn you’ll be able to turn one more summon into board wipe, 4+ will be just biting the bullet and wasting resources.
It also specifically does not send itself to GY and neither effect is once per turn so it’s a repeatable board wipe every 4 normal/special summon. Only the most passive control/antimeta decks can play freely under this but nobody is impressed anymore with “Summon Raioh/Phacy and set 5” strategies.
This is going to break the game and very quickly people will demand ban for it.

      • Orga777 on January 4, 2026 8:36 am

Or they just summon Knightmare Phoenix and pop it. This card is not good and definitely not worth a side deck slot for cards that are way more high impact.

      • FreeBaguska on January 4, 2026 8:46 am

@Orga777 – Except just as with every other floodgate that existed ever before – obviously you play it with some sort of protection in mind.. Your Knightmare Phoenix looks kind of silly when there’s Imperm or Veiler or any other negate. And you just put three counters on this card and wasted resources to summon Knightmare Phoenix.

There has to be hard counters to main decks (and sometimes extra decks!) that are 95%+ combo filler. How to make that design space “fair” is not something I can answer. Granted, this should be the job of actual play-styles instead of individual cards but it’s ygo so

This card doesn’t seem as garbage as people say. It’s not “just worse torrential tribute.” It’s infinite torrential tribute, with no once per turn. This won’t see play in any combo Decks, but this card is not TERRIBLE.

    19. Alderman on January 4, 2026 10:20 am

Every time I see the comments immediately trash a card, I’m reminded of one on the Horus cards when they came out calling them unplayable because of the “If another card(s) you control leaves the field by an opponent’s card effect” effects. A good thing to be wary of, but so dogmatic it ignored the blatantly obvious reason people ended up using the cards.
Sure, there are plenty of ways to pop a card in under four summons. But not all decks have one they can go into without suboptimal plays. A detour into Phoenix will not always be free.
Will that be enough to make the card see significant play? No clue.

The card is not that bad because yes, you can remove this, but still SENDS not destroy. Its better than torrential because torrential cannot break unbreakable monsters

      • Joey Jojo on January 4, 2026 11:17 am

^ Exactly. And any “when destroyed by card effect” effects of your opponent’s monsters won’t trigger, so at least there’s that.

      • FreeBaguska on January 4, 2026 11:53 am

@joey jojo – even most effects triggering from being send to GY are not really helping here because most of them either special summon another monster or search cards that 9/10 times are special summoning another monster.
This card screws with how people play Yu-gi-oh! and makes most obvious plays bad. Decks and engines that can put on the field monsters without summoning a lot are the ones that are kind of resistant to this card – Red-Eyes Fusion going into Dragoon is an obvious play that will put only 1 counter on this card, for example.

      • try on January 4, 2026 2:56 pm

I’d like you to go reread Slihouhatte Rabbit and this card before you post stupid stuff like this in future. Show me where on this card the effect to summon itself as a monster is,

    21. Naransolongo_BB on January 4, 2026 11:53 am

You can debate whether this card is good or bad but I think there’s a key question worth asking we never do.

Are you really running this over proven staples?

Even for staple, non-hand traps everyone uses (like Duster/Raigeki, the Solemn series, floodgates, etc) they’re almost always for going 1st or decks that specifically support them like Labrynth does for Normal traps. That one trap that summoned lv10s got people hyped and it IS good, but are you really going to run it when you can’t search it and you could’ve seen a more impactful card instead?

      Reply
      • FreeBaguska on January 4, 2026 12:00 pm

I mean, sure as hell people will play it in dedicated decks. People played Summon Limit, Vanity’s Emptiness, Royal Oppression and other similar cards and you know how it ended.
People call this card weaker Nibiru/TT, but it’s actually just another Floodgate that instead of saying opponent that they can’t play Yugioh is telling them that they may play Yugioh but everything will explode, anyway.

      • STEVE on January 4, 2026 1:33 pm

it can see play on decks that can manipulate the summons, for example, Argostars can jump back and forth probably causing two board wipes. other monsters might get effects by triggering while sent to the GY and so on.

it is niche, and it is going first, but it is not terrible. besides, there are ways to protect backrow from destruction.

    23. Narf on January 4, 2026 12:52 pm

At base and on its own it’s bad, but combined with being fed off your own summons and other disruptive traps, it might become an issue. Most decks don’t just have infinite spell/trap removal, they have S:P, maybe Knightmare Phoenix and that’s about it for easy removal that doesn’t die to this card. Furthermore it is not once per turn, so pushing through a boardwipe won’t improve the situation. So once you resolve that effect once, you should be good. What’s also important to note is that it does not destroy, it sends to the GY, which gets around the most common forms of protection.

What leaves this card without a real home though is the lack of access to it. It’s not a normal trap in Labrynth, it will usually just be a random draw you have to hope for turn 1 and since it’s even worse than most of its competitors into established boards, it’ll likely see either no play or be a side deck card at best.

poeple calling this bad need a reality check…nothing ever pleases some of you, something has to completely decimate your opponent turn one with no drawbacks and added benifits that practically garuntee you will win in order for it to be even considdered a good card.

never mind the fact that this is essentially a nibiru that can be used over and over again…and if your running a deck that rarely summons, say like runik for example …or a trap monster deck that summons durring your opponent’s turn….then this puts you in an advantagous position of controling thier board. with little draw back to you.
