It’s neat that this thing has 0 defense for things like Chaos Femtron, but the effect feels pretty win-more to me.
2000 attack for controlling one fusion is just okay, and in the case of 2800 attack for controlling two fusions, you probably didn’t need this thing to win.
I guess it’s a pretty decent tech against Shiny Shady-like effects for Cyberse since a lot of Cyberse cards restrict you from using powerful generic backrow removal like Justiciar of the Dragon Stream.
It’s actually going to be a maindeck staple for Space Yggdrago lists from this point on, I think
Previously, we were legitimately just on some of the low-level Yggdrago Maximum pieces, since they could be added not only off Chaos Femtron, but also Minion, instead of things like Reset runner, which didnt work with them
…buuuut Folnir’s protection against any and all flip face-down effects is good enough to forego running the max pieces at all, since Shiny Shady is a staple that’s run in most maindecks (though sometimes foregone in favor of Invitation to a Delirious Dream), and Space Yggdrago is a deck that just kinda has to commit to its high levels on board
It also turns off Curse of the Rising Light, another common (side deck, usually) staple, which is especially notable since, even if they out Folnir, Curse’s draw effect might not be live later
Additionally it sometimes can also just win matchups where flipping face-down/switching battle positions is relevant, as a bonus
Folnir got a technically slight nerf compared to the anime, where before it prevented your opponent from changing any of your face-up Cyberse monsters’s battle positions. Though for this Deck, which is nearly comprised of 0-100 DEF monsters, it doesn’t make a difference.
Folnir protects your Attack Position Cyberse monsters from Shiny Shady, Jointech Joint, Curse of the Rising Light, Berry Fresh Pleasure, and the handful of archetypal cards (often backrow) that change battle positions, which are becoming much more prevalent in number as the game adapted to bosses having Trap destruction protection and now bounce/spin protection.
Folnir is good to bring out at the start of your plays so you can activate the effects of your Cyberse starters and extenders without these interrupts in your way. Folnir is also 0 DEF for Chaos Femtron, Seed Driver, and Multi-Space, while being placed on the top of your Deck by Deep Space Impact. The ATK gain is just a bonus to help keep Folnir on the field, though it is vulnerable to any other removal.
I’ll be honest, I didn’t realize that’s where the name came from.
Well, at least you won’t have any problems with your Fusion Monsters being switched out of position by your opponent (in addition to being another DARK Cyberse with 0 DEF to better complement the Deck)
In other unrelated matters: after checking the information from Jump Festa in Japanese again, it was revealed that OuTerverSe Burst Oblivion will not be released in Galactica of Eternity (it will be released in a future Pack)
The only thing that was confirmed is that OuTerverSe Burst Oblivion will appear in the Anime (as well as Galactica Chaos Oblivion)
