Further clarification to a certain notoriously confusing card.
“Can the effect of Invoked Mechaba be activated while the effect of Imperial Iron Wall is applying?”
Q: The effect of Imperial Iron Wall is applying. In this situation, can the effect of Invoked Mechaba be activated?
A: It cannot be activated. Note that the effect of Invoked Mechaba can be chained to the activation of Imperial Iron Wall. In that case, the effect of Invoked Mechaba will negate the activation of Imperial Iron Wall and banish it.
The following effects also cannot be activated if an effect that prevents cards from being banished is applied.
– Second effect of Nekroz of Areadbhair
– First and second effects of Dragunity Knight – Areadbhair
– Third effect of Shooting Majestic Star Dragon
– Second effect of Infernoid Onuncu
– Second effect of Infernoid Devyaty
– Cynet Conflict
– Debunk
– “● 3” effect of Tri-Gate Wizard
“When resolving an effect that negates the activation of a card/effect and banishes it, what happens if an effect that prevents banishing is applying?”
Q: I activate the effect of Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju that negates the activation of a card effect. If the effect of Imperial Iron Wall or Artifact Lancea is applying by the time that effect resolves, what happens?
A: If the effect of Imperial Iron Wall or Artifact Lancea is applying when resolving the effect of Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju, the activation of the effect is negated normally, but the card is not banished.
If you negate the card activation of a Spell/Trap, it will not be banished but it will still be sent to the Graveyard. (It is not treated as being sent to the Graveyard by a card effect.)
If you negate the activation of a Spell/Trap effect that isn’t the activation of the card itself, or negate the activation of a monster effect, it will not be banished and will remain in the location it was in when the effect resolved.
The same applies to the following cards that negate the activation of a card/effect and banish it.
– Myutant Ultimus
– Myutant Beast
– Shooting Majestic Star Dragon
– Nekroz of Areadbhair
– Dragunity Knight – Areadbhair
– Tri-Gate Wizard
– Invoked Mechaba
– Infernoid Onuncu
– Infernoid Devyaty
“What happens if Number iC1000: Numerounius Numerounia is temporarily banished?”
Q: My Number iC1000: Numerounius Numerounia that was Special Summoned by the effect of Number C1000: Numerounius during a previous turn is temporarily banished by the effect of Interdimensional Matter Transporter during my opponent’s turn. When Number iC1000: Numerounius Numerounia returns to the field during the End Phase, do I win the Duel due to its win condition?
A: You will win the Duel. Even if Number iC1000: Numerounius Numerounia is temporarily banished and returned to the field, it is still treated as being Special Summoned by the effect of Number C1000: Numerounius, so its “●” text will be applied since it is after the turn it was Special Summoned.
“If an Xyz Material is returned to the hand or Extra Deck, or banished, can an effect that activates “If a material is detached from a monster on the field” be used?”
Q: If Xyz Materials are returned to the hand or Extra Deck by the effects of Overlay Network, Materiactor Gigaboros, or Exosisters Magnifica, or banished by the effect of Sacrifice Rank-Up, can the effects of Gigantic “Champion” Sargas or Goblin Biker Big-Head Gabonga that activate “If a material is detached from a monster on the field” be used?
A: Those effects can be activated.
“Can I activate the effect of Nibiru, the Primal Being while the effect of Kaiser Colosseum is applying?”
Q: My opponent’s Kaiser Colosseum is applying, and my opponent has Normal/Special Summoned 5 or more monsters this turn. Under which circumstances can I activate the effect of Nibiru, the Primal Being?
A: If the total number of monsters you control that are face-down or that cannot be Tributed is less than the number of such monsters your opponent controls, you can activate the effect of Nibiru, the Primal Being. (In this context, “cannot be Tributed” refers to monsters that have an effect explicitly preventing them from being Tributed, such as Summoner Monk, or monsters that explicitly cannot be Tributed due to other effects such as Mind Control. This does not refer to monsters that are unaffected by monster effects.)
As examples, its effect can be activated in the following situations.
● All monsters on the field are face-up, and only your opponent controls a monster that cannot be Tributed.
● Your opponent controls 2 face-down Defense Position monsters, you control 1 face-down Defense Position monster, and all face-up monsters can be Tributed.
● You control only 1 face-down Defense Position monster, and your opponent controls 2 monsters that cannot be Tributed.
As examples, its effect cannot be activated in the following situations.
● All monsters on the field are face-up, and your opponent does not control any monsters that cannot be Tributed.
● You and your opponent each control only 1 face-down Defense Position monster, and all face-up monsters can be Tributed.
● You control only 1 face-down Defense Position monster, and your opponent controls a monster that cannot be Tributed.
*Note: This is essentially saying that your Kaiser Colosseum stops your opponent from using Nibiru on you, except in situations where your monsters that it can’t attempt to Tribute (face-down monsters and Summoner Monk, etc.) outnumber theirs. In most cases, Kaiser Colosseum will see Nibiru as an attempt for the opponent to Summon a monster while the number of monsters is equal (zero, due to them all being Tributed), and prevent the activation despite the fact that its effect would stop applying if there were no monsters on the field.

Q: Novox, the Silencforcer Disciple is attached as Xyz Material to Drytron Mu Beta Fafnir. If I perform a Ritual Summon by applying the effect of Drytron Mu Beta Fafnir and using its materials for the Ritual Summon, can I also apply the effect of Novox, the Silenforcer Disciple and treat it as the entire Tribute?
A: Its effect cannot be applied. The same applies to the following monsters attached as Xyz Material to Drytron Mu Beta Fafnir.
– Gishki Grimness
– Gishki Vision
– Gishki Shadow
– Shurit, Strategist of the Nekroz
– Ritual Raven
