No magical girls? No mechs? Let’s fix that! TOGETHER.
Note: Centurion is the term for a commander of a century, a military unit consisting of 100 legionaires.
DBVS-JP016 重騎士(センチュリオン)プリメラ Centurion Primera
Level 4 LIGHT Spellcaster Tuner Effect
ATK 1600
DEF 1600
You can only use the (1)st and (3)rd effect of this card’s name each once per turn.
(1) If this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can add 1 “Centurion” card from your Deck to your hand, except “Centurion Primera”, but you cannot Special Summon “Centurion Primera” for the rest of this turn.
(2) Your Level 5 or higher “Centurion” monsters cannot be destroyed by card effects while this card is treated as a Continuous Trap.
(3) During the Main Phase, while this card is treated as a Continuous Trap: You can Special Summon it.
Note: The Kanji 重騎士 reads reads as Heavy Cavalry/Heavily-Armed Knight. Primera probably derives from Primarius, Latin for “first”, “chief ranked”, “excellence”. She’s probably a reference to the term ‘Primus Pilus’, the term for a senior Centurion.
DBVS-JP017 従騎士(センチュリオン)トゥルーデア Centurion Trudea
Level 4 DARK Pyro/Effect
ATK 1000 DEF 2000
You can only use the (1)st and (2)nd effect of this card’s name each once per turn.

(2) During the Main Phase, while this card is treated as a Continuous Trap: You can Special Summon it, then you can increase its Level by 4.
Note: 従騎士 reads as Junior or Lesser Knight. Trudea probably derives from trũdъ, a proto-slavic word meaning “Labor”/”Effort”. Either that or it’s “Trudis”, a metal pole in Latin. Though it might be for some screwy reason, a reference to Mother Trudy, i.e. Frau Trude, a Grimm Fairy Tale. Trude itself is a German name meaning “Strength”.
DBVS-JP018 重騎兵(センチュリオン)エメトVI Centurion Emet VI
Level 8 EARTH Machine Effect Monster
ATK 2000
DEF 3000
You can only use the (1)st and (2)nd effect of this card’s name each once per turn.
(1) During your opponent’s turn, if this card is in your hand or GY (Quick Effect): You can target 1 “Centurion” monster you control, except “Centurion Emet VI”; place it face-up in your Spell & Trap Zone as a Continuous Trap, and if you do, Special Summon this card.
(2) During the Main Phase, if this card is treated as a Continuous Trap: You can Special Summon it.
Note: The Kanji (重騎兵) reads as Heavy Cavalry. Emet probably comes from ēmeritus, Latin for “Earned”, thought it likely comes from Emeterius, one of two Roman legionnaires who were ordained as catholic saints and martyrs. Emeth is also the word “Truth” used to give life to a Golem.
Level 12 LIGHT Machine Synchro Effect Monster
ATK 3500
DEF 2000
Materials: 1 Tuner + 1+ non-Tuner monsters
You can only use the (1)st and (3)rd effect of this card’s name each once per turn.
(1) If this card is Special Summoned: You can draw 1 card, then you can destroy the 1 face-up monster your opponent controls with the highest ATK (your choice, if tied).

(2) You can banish this card from your GY, then target 1 “Centurion” Synchro Monster in your GY; Special Summon it, and if you do, it loses 1500 ATK.
Note: The Kanji (騎士魔防陣) on this card reads “Knight’s Magical Defense Formation”. Phalanx is Latin for “Battle Order/Array”, but specifically referred to an interlocking formation in which heavy infantry used polearms and shields, usually forming a solid wall of shields behind which they could poke. (‘Hoplite Phalanx’).

Note: The Kanji (騎士皇爆誕) on this card reads Knight Emperor’s Explosive Birth.

I AM THE ANIME GIRL THAT PIERCES THE HEAVENS
Oh, I see…Because the last set broke tradition by having zero “waifu” archetypes, this one has to have two. I didn’t see the payoff and seems really slow, but I always say never underestimate Deck Build Archetypes. And this one doesn’t lock you and it can synchro on your opponent’s turn (plus the spells and traps are alright). Not to mention, the boss monster is 100% generic, which…is unusual for a level 12 Synchro
Drawing 1 or 2 Waifus might not be a big deal, but drawing the whole archetype, consisting of most of the females in the artwork of the cards, is really a nuisance. As an artist myself, sometimes you get pressured to draw something you don’t really want to draw.
More uninspired “waifu” cringe 💤💤💤
Always has been. But at least we have Valmonica.
Rather the contrary but okay
Hmm, if it manages to churn out multiple Level 12s per turn, it could use King Calamity lock easier than Mannadium.
after pebble people we finally have pyro people(person)
I can already foresee what’s coming in the PHNI. A Centurion Support with the effect of Synchro Summoning by using a face-up Monster in your S/T Zone.
Cant wait till they add the “not” anti-spiral during their next support wave
I can’t unsee the pointy nose in the quick play

I won’t complain about the lame archetypes anymore since Kashtira was a thing.
Good point, they are exactly opposites. Each of these cards does nothing on its own, whereas when I read the first Kash revealed (Fenrir) I thought “there’s really the need for it to be a deck? it’s basically free agent turbo” especially after Arise…
Wouldn’t that make sense to pair with Crystal beast? Or maybe ABC?
Absolutely, but no more than an engine made of the field spell, the counter and Primera. The former can be searched by Bridge of Salvation and, if you open with both, it can make Golden Rule alive. The latter is actually the only card you really want, for a further interruption. Primera is just the bridge (to stay on topic lol) between them, but she can also be a body useful for rank 4 plays. However, I wouldn’t play more than one copy of each to not brick, although you might summon Primera with Saryuja as well.
at first i was dumbfolded by this archetype, but it tries to be an Synchro 8/12 deck, and it synergizes with Despian Luluwalilith/Crimson Dragon, but it is generic enough to be used with other synchro decks, it’s time to cook bois
You might also use Branded Fusion to make the quick spell alive by going into Sanctifire, Albion or Lubellion. You can synchro summon on your opponent’s turn as well so you don’t really care about the lock. You’d have also access to Etude if you go into Mirrorjade.
LIGHT Spellcaster, DARK Pyro, EARTH and LIGHT Machine.
Konami, this isn’t Rush Duel lol.
