    Chemistry vs Chthonian

DOOD-JP069 ヘル・パニッシャー Hell Punisher [Infernal Punisher]
    Normal Spell Card
    (1) Activate 1 of these effects (but you can only use each of these effects of this card’s name once per turn);
    ● Add 1 WATER Dinosaur monster from your Deck to your hand, then, if your opponent controls a monster, you can Special Summon the added monster.
    ● Tribute 1 monster; Special Summon 1 Level 6 or higher FIRE monster from your hand, Deck, or GY, but its effects are negated unless it is Fiend monster.

    Note:

This card takes its name from the Japanese Name of Infernal Incinerator (i.e. Hell Burner) and the Japanese Name for Water Dragon’s attack: “Aqua Punisher”.

Duoterion is obviously the best search for the first effect.

Any good Level 6+ FIRE Fiends to summon from this?

They said good. Infernal Incinerator is trash. The only good one that we can summon with this is Unchained Soul of Sharvara, but it doesn’t have an on-field effect, so yeah.

Best target for this effect is probably gonna be Sharvara, but the decks that play it usually have some better ways of accessing it

      • Baroque on June 30, 2025 1:49 am

From the Deck? The big names to consider are Sharvara (popular deck, gets him into position to be used as a Link material or popped and thereby get his search), Helshaddoll Hollow (2900/2900 beater, Level 9, if sent to GY by effect has a pretty decent self-mill), and Koa’ki Meiru Valafar (if just for him being a 3000 ATK Lv8 and just simply having piercing to do some damage with; plan to use him as a mat for something before you lose him, though).

From the GY? While D/D absolutely does not need this card at all (it has enough that can do this job as it is), it CAN rez a Genghis of one sort or another since both normal and High are FIRE, but other than that nothing’s jumping out at me.

As for the WATER half of the effect, I’d honestly say Duoterion is less the best search and more the best search for IF we’re using this in a Water Dragon deck like the serving suggestion’s trying to steer us to — most Dinosaur decks have other priorities than trying to make Duoterion work, I’d imagine; better searches than that would probably be Frostosaurus (Level 6 helps make Lars or Drilly, solid ATK, Normal is in vogue thanks to Primite) and Megalosmasher X (Level 4 seldom falls out of fashion, 2000 ATK means he’s a less offensive Garnet to draw than most, and again Normal has its perks these days).

    3. Blackbird on June 29, 2025 8:39 am

Fire kings are probably the best option as this can be used to very easily allow for some rank 7 and 8 plays for them

So outside of cute play with frostosaurus for transendrake I’m not seeing much for first effect.

But the potential is there for fire decks with the second effect *(mainly fire king, sadly)*

Actually, it can be special summoned, just not normal summoned commonly.

      • Baroque on June 30, 2025 6:51 am

No, Kal Renok, Cerayubel has the right of it; with one notable exception (given the Levels involved), not a single Level 6+ Infernoid can be Special Summoned by a means other than A) their printed effect or B) something that ignores summoning conditions (like Void Breach & Void Feast do; in fact, that’s WHY they do it).

Incidentally, that exception is one that folks probably wouldn’t particularly care about bringing back compared to, say, tossing her back into the Extra Deck — that’s right, it’s Infernoid Tierra, the deck’s Fusion Monster whose only effect is a laundry list she gets to fire off when she’s Fusion Summoned; all reviving her with this would do is put more numbers (particularly the number 11, her Level) on your field at the cost of someone you already had out, and I don’t think the Deck’s looking for that, especially given the Spell would be no better than masonry until specifically “after you make Tierra and N’tss comes in with a steel chair.”

        Light

      • Baroque on June 30, 2025 7:03 am

You’re not wrong to be only coming up with vanillas given the list of WATER Dinosaurs that this can search is enough that I can count them on one hand and a knuckle and half of that is, indeed, vanillas.

For vanillas, we have Kabazauls, Megalosmasher X, and Frostosaurus.

For the effect monsters, two-thirds of them relate to (half of) the serving suggestion in the card art: Hydrogeddon and Duoterion, from the Deck that gives us Water Dragon (and still hasn’t given us that Fire Dragon); the remaining one is a very odd monster that I wonder if this card would make marginally more common by merit of being able to search it OR Frosto: Submareed Tour Ride, a Level 6 with an eh 2200 ATK that simply comes out for free if you have a vanilla out and passively protects your first vanilla that’d die (to battle, even though its TCG text adds by effect as well) each turn from, well, dying.

That’s it, that’s the lot of ’em. Other WATER Dinosaurs exist (e.g., the Transcendosaurus Synchro), but those six are the ones this can fetch.

What else is left there? Few traps from Yugi, Bastion’s Plus/Minus memes and the cards used by random jobbers in ZeXal? The last one would be ironically most interesting, considering that it would introduce XYZ plays to this deck.

You know, reading comments here about people saying Infernal Incinerator being bad need to realize it’s only bad if you need to Normal Summon or set it.

If you do that you need to send your entire hand and tribute a big monster. However, this card Special Summons it from virtually anywhere from hand, deck or gy.

If anything this card gives it random life out of nowhere especially being a potential shield as well keeping you safe and getting bigger due to opponent having more monsters on board.

It even tributes a monster too fixing the risk of it’s weakness getting it’s attack decreased by 500 for having monsters on your field. It’s also a level 6 monster. We have Hop Ear Squadron that can even be searched from Noble Knight’s Shield-Bearer which is seeing relevance soon due to the “MST” Deck coming out.

There’s even Halfway to Forever which if you have enough level 6s you can make Number 39: Utopia Beyond to save yourself again by lowering all opponent’s attack to 0 during a Battle Phase.

      It’s not hard…

Ok but why would you play a level 6 brick with basically no effect other than becoming a big beater with no protection?

      • Cerayubel on June 29, 2025 5:53 pm

Really trying to make a bad card good huh.

      • Namesky on June 30, 2025 7:47 am

@Nox – I guess mostly because it’s the biggest level 6 FIRE fiend we got for now. It’s still bad, and there’s a lot of better options for that effect, but at least it went from pretty much unplayable to bad, but kinda amusing. The 3 or so roleplay duelists that want to play Chazz’s OG deck just got a cute toy for it.
Also, I’m curious if we will be getting more cards referencing memorable moments from GX synched with episode schedule of Remaster.

…So that’s why we are getting that level 6 FIRE fiend pendulum as obligatory new normal in next TP? I’m curious if there’s more to that, like making Cthonian/Infernal/Hell into proper theme or archetype. They don’t really have a consistent gameplay and most of the cards are… not great.
