POSITION SUMMARY:
The Associate Product Manager will be responsible for executing brand and marketing plans for the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME products as well as Organized Play events. They must work closely with several cross functional teams including R&D, Web & Social, Digital Games, Production, and Sales to achieve or exceed overall corporate goals. The ideal candidate should have experience managing licensed consumer brands and marketing campaigns targeting boys 8-14, be organized and detail oriented, and be a team player.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Work closely with R&D to develop and refine communication strategies for products, including product positioning, creative strategy, advertising execution, promotion development and execution, with a focus on new user acquisition.
• Assist with developing and implementing strategic product positioning, define and set budgets with Marketing Manager, and assist with marketing plans.
• Assist with developing product briefs for trade, consumer-facing product pages, marketing summaries, and other promotional programs to enhance sales of products.
• Communicate with the external PR agency to maintain cohesive corporate and product messaging and develop strategies for user retention as well as new user acquisition.
• Work with the Associate Social Media and Content Manager to vet, develop and maintain relationships with content creators, while working closely with the PR agency on content creator activations, to ensure they meet brand guidelines.
• Work with the Organized Play team to develop efficient promotions for OP programs and assist at events.
• Work with R&D and Online teams to maintain the official product website and produce engaging content for official social media sites that would appeal to both new players, current Yu-Gi-Oh! players and lapsed players.
• Provide strategic and creative direction to implement online, print and TV advertising and the development of ad copy, scripts and editorial messaging.
• Use market data to measure effectiveness of marketing strategies.
• Manage the daily execution of product promotions, ensuring materials are created on schedule and within budget.
• Obtain necessary approvals for all marketing-related activities to ensure compliance with licensors, first-parties, etc.
• Manage and track marketing budgets; negotiate pricing of services, goods and media with vendors.
• Assist Events and Sales teams in preparation for sales meetings, trade shows, retailer promotions, trade advertising, and consumer events, when necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:
• BA/BS required.
• 3-4 years relevant experience in gaming, consumer packaged goods, and/or digital entertainment industries strongly desired, with at least 1 year of relevant product marketing experience.
• Playing experience and in-depth knowledge of the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG, and Yu-Gi-Oh! manga and animated series
• Ability to work with limited supervision. Personal initiative and sound business judgment required to identify, evaluate and respond to job needs.
• Expert with MS office suite (Power Point, Excel, Word).
• Excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be comfortable speaking to all levels of management.
• Professional, with exceptional interpersonal skills.
• Must be detail-oriented and demonstrate ability to multi-task.
• Proven ability to work with various personality types and work styles in a multicultural environment.
• Knowledge of or the willingness to learn the workings of Card Business TCGs, including gameplay.
• Experience marketing licensed products a plus
• Japanese language ability (speaking/reading/writing) a plus.
