A New Age Of “Genex” Goes Online! [TW01]

    NeoArkadiaBy NeoArkadiaOctober 11, 202323 Comments

What, did you think I’d let you Synchro Summon alone?

The cover artwork for Terminal World features the new monsters for Ice Barrier, Infernoid, Genex, and a fourth unknown group, though the monster has a passing resemblance to Ritual Beast Tamer Lara.

TW01-JP050 A・O・G リターンゼロ Arms of Genex Return Zero
Level 10 DARK Machine Synchro Effect Monster
    ATK 3100
    DEF 2950
    Materials: 1 DARK Tuner + 1+ non-Tuner monsters
    (1) When your opponent activates a monster effect (Quick Effect): You can banish 1 monster from your GY with the same Attribute as that monster, but a different one than those banished to activate this effect of this card’s name this turn; negate the activation, and if you do, destroy that monster.
    (2) Once per turn: You can target up to 6 of your “Genex” monsters with different Attributes that are banished and/or in your GY; shuffle them into the Deck, then you can destroy up to that many cards in the Spell & Trap Zone.

    TW01-JP051 リペア・ジェネクス・コントローラー Repair Genex Controller
Link-1 DARK Machine Link Effect Monster
    ATK 1200
    Links: Left
Materials: 1 Level 4 or lower “Genex” monster
You can only Special Summon “Repair Genex Controller(s)” once per turn.
    (1) If this card is Link Summoned: You can add 1 “Genex” monster from your GY to your hand.
    (2) Once per Chain, if a “Genex” monster(s) is added to your hand, except by drawing it, you can: Immediately after this effect resolves, Normal Summon 1 “Genex” monster, also you cannot Special Summon monsters from the Extra Deck for the rest of this turn, except by Synchro Summon using a “Genex” Tuner as material.

    TW01-JP052 レアル・ジェネクス・ウンディーネ Real Genex Undine (R-Genex Undine)
Level 4 WATER Aqua Effect Monster
    ATK 1700
    DEF 1100
    (1) Once per turn: You can banish 1 “Genex” monster from your GY; this card gains that monster’s Attribute, then, if you banished a Tuner to activate this effect, you can treat this card as a Tuner until the end of this turn.
    (2) If you control a “Genex” Synchro Monster: You can target 2 “Genex” monsters in your GY, including this card; add them to your hand, also banish any card sent to your GY for the rest of this turn.

    TW01-JP053 レアル・ジェネクス・チューリング Real Genex Turing (R-Genex Turing)
Level 2 DARK Spellcaster Tuner Effect Monster
    ATK 600
    DEF 600
You can only use the (1)st effect of this card’s name once per turn.
    (1) During your opponent’s Main Phase, if you control a “Genex” monster (Quick Effect): You can Special Summon this card from your hand, then, immediately after this effect resolves, you can Synchro Summon 1 “Genex” Synchro Monster.
    (2) If this card on the field is used as Synchro material for a “Genex” Monster, it can be treated as a Level 1 or 3 monster.

Note: This card is a reference to Alan Turing, one of the fathers and founders of computer science. It is also a reference to the Turing Test, which is a test to see if machines can replicate human intelligence.

Hey, Decisive Armor showing up once again – as a Synchro Monster this time. Interesting.

      • Kevin B. on October 12, 2023 12:45 am

Before anyone asks, I know Decisive Armor was a Synchro Monster to start off with. I just didn’t think they’d make ANOTHER one for it.

Is funny how similar Genexs and Hydradrives are with changing attributes and taking advantage of it.

Wow! These don’t do a whole lot! The Ice Barrier support at least makes it playable. I don’t think anything here fixes any of the multitude of design disasters that is Genex.

      • Endeavor on October 12, 2023 7:27 am

Are you serious? The deck has now half a deck starters for infinite summons. What Konami can really do nothing about is players’ stupidity.

    8. thebaseddd2 on October 12, 2023 4:45 am

A glorious day! Redshift’s theory was correct! Qllswarm can go eat dirt. To top it off R-Genex Undine is far more creative than just lazily slapping a HOPT clause, compensates for the laziness of churning out another blue bordered zoodiac. Mist valley structure deck next?

A shame there’s still no generic continuous trap that’s lets you change the attribute of an opponent’s monster on the field OR gy though some come close like that elephant trap monster.

    9. MistValley on October 12, 2023 7:06 am

4th group is def ritual beasts, mist valley really needed something they are unplayable

Crap, i was hoping for nekroz

    10. Snow on October 12, 2023 7:07 am

Really… they gave Genex garbage support that does nothing for them, instead of Evilswarms. *sigh*

      • Endeavor on October 12, 2023 8:04 am

Are you serious? The deck has now half a deck starters for infinite summons. I can’t really understand why there are so many stupid people.

      • Snow on October 12, 2023 5:15 pm

Doesn’t matter how many starters a deck has if it doesn’t end on anything. Every single Nordic monster is full combo for Aesir and they are like Tier 7 at best, AND their end board is still stronger than Genex with this new support. What’s stupid here is you thinking Genex can do anything with this support. Go cope somewhere else.

    11. thebaseddd2 on October 12, 2023 7:14 am

Lorewise they forgot to reprint Machine As.s.embly Line. This is the 1st in-theme way of triggering Genex Ally Reliever.

      • Endeavor on October 12, 2023 8:15 am

That’s a niche detail you noticed!

    12. Logic Bomb on October 12, 2023 11:46 am

Does it solve everything? Absolutely not(this is Genex after all), but this actually does a lot for them. Certainly more than the thousands of other support they got

    13. Pep on October 12, 2023 4:29 pm

      This is incredible Genex support.
Though it dies to literally any piece of interaction with the opponent.
Which I guess is on par with Genex.

      • Terraformed on October 12, 2023 9:33 pm

Honestly, dying to any interaction is a step up for Genex who used to die when you drew your opening hand and realized you were playing Genex.

    14. Harfidast on October 13, 2023 2:41 am

AoG return zero is indirect aromage support. Change my mind.
