And this why Pokémon is much more popular. Konami is a crap company that don’t know how to give back to its own fans for sticking with them for this long.
It’s them announcing on a Japanese page, on a Japanese Stream, to Japanese players, that they’re holding a major event at Japanese Yankee Stadium/Madison Square Garden.
It’s kinda a big deal.
Do you have number or a source for that. I read often that Magic/Pokemon is more popular, but I can’t find something

And here I thought Konami was going to release an awesome product like Duel Devastator to celebrate the 25th anniversary, how disappointing.
Mmmmmm. Look, I somehow guessed that it was going to be something DM related.
In fact, this ad reminds me of the time where that tournament happened (where they gave all the favoritism to Blue-Eyes) which was created in conjunction with “Yu-Gi-Oh! The Dark Side of Dimensions” during the Arc-V Era.
However, I did expect another type of announcement like a new Master Rule, a New Summoning Method for OCG/TCG or Rush Duels for the West.
Absolute trash. Konami is a garbage company that disrespects their clientele at every chance they get. How bout they listen to what we want for once? Instead of slapping us in the face for another tourney of a broken game for sweaty nerds.

Totally agree this is the reason Yugioh isn’t more mainstream. It because Konami are incompetent at managing their most popular franchise. No wonder why more People play Magic and Pokémon.

How are people legitimately mad about this announcement? Like yeah it only affects the OCG playerbase but that doesn’t mean Konami will stop making products from now on. Not to mention, a tournament makes sense as the card game itself is a shonen. I expect the prizing from the tournament to be hype as well.
Well can’t say I’m surprised. I just think this is Konami’s way of saying they gave us something without spending any money. What a joke. And just to think I really love the card game and series but man, they just don’t wanna shell out any cash for their fans. Sadness.
These events don’t make money and are solely for promotion.

I somehow feel like I could forgive Konami if they ban Maxx “C” in the next OCG banlist; otherwise, you can f*** yourself, Konami.
Was “It will change Yu-Gi-Oh forever” (or another phrase to that effect) something that originated within the OCG, or something ‘local’? If within the OCG, then a 2-day tournament is a gross overstatement of changing the franchise forever.
It was something a YugiTuber made a big deal that this countdown would change YGO.

Gotta say, quite the hubbub for just a tournament announcement. Frankly, that does not do the franchise or players of the game any justice, unless you play the OCG in which case, you’re welcome to it. What about TCG players? What big surprises do we get? The gift that keeps on giving, disappointment.
2023 and yet we still have OCG and TCG, and if that isn’t enough Konami gives preference to OCG with a… tourney?. lol No wonder everyone can’t be even more disappointed from Konami.
