Daemons and Dungeons
Kinda under powering and stopped by Droll
Tomorrow’s theme may be better
maybe one day Konami will make an “Archfiend” deck that isnt mid or a gimmick.
Do you know for sure if we’re gonna get more burst protocol stuff tomorrow?
Why are they humans cosplaying as archfiends? They’re supposed to be….you know, DEMONS
I never get the “lose to droll” as a substantial negative lol. A lot of decks loses to droll with the ones that don’t being an outlier, not the norm
I hope I’m not the only one that had to read “Archfiend’s Jest” several times before I understood how the latter effect option was any better than the former. (Kept reading that “and/or” as just an “or”.)
Everyone was expecting Garlandolf/Djinns to be retrained as Ruin/Demise support, but instead we got Ritual Archfiends… So disappointing
These look fun. I cant wait for the other 2 ritual monsters
I don’t think Konami will make them haha.
Dungeon & Daemons
Oh, it’s been a long time since the last support for Archfiends proper.
Just a reminder: Archfiends have several cards named after them in the OCG/TCG (not just Summoned Skull)
Well, Archfiend support wasn’t on my bingo card. It’s cute, but that’s about it.
All the searching power you want, and still no real payoff other the archfiend traps🤦♂️. The new cont trap is cool, but I just wanted them to get a modern competent boss at least
Doom Emperor is at least neat, has some ok potential with the field wipe and being powered up to a 3500 towers is nothing to scoff at. But the amount of holes in it’s protection, mainly it’s vulnerability to S/T removal means it’s not nearly as intimidating as it sounds. A bit of a shame because the resource loop the deck sets up is interesting but like you said, there’s just no endgame for it all.
It’s probably helpful that Archiend Matador and Archfiend Awakening exist so that we have two other Ritual monsters already. Though they’re level six so it’s not a full clean tribute.
The new Ritual Raven retrain might also be handy here, idk.
I mean, I think I see the vision with this guy now that I’ve messed about with the cards a bit. See, he’s a Ritual Pendulum, yeah? And we know where Pendulums go when they would be sent from the field to the GY, yeah? And Doom Emperor wants to be Ritual Summoned from the Extra Deck, of course, otherwise he’s not getting into the Extra Monster Zone, not to mention how his Ritual Spell recovers itself if you have a Doom Emperor in the Extra Deck and the Field Spell lets you throw one in there to prepare for this . . .
. . . so what I’m stabbing at is that this deck’s primary goal is to make Doom Emperor cosplay as ‘The Garunix That Banishes’, and everything surrounding that is flash and glamour that’s there to either make summoning him the first time easier or try to keep you going long enough that he has a chance to get himself looping.
The payoff is that he’s going to keep doing this if your opponent doesn’t very specifically dismantle that bomb in a grossly excessive fashion (e.g., banishing all copies of Emperor & Throne face-down, Cursed Seal of the Forbidden Spell, or similar such fates) because everything’s geared towards getting it all (back) on-track. The Throne even recovers itself FROM banishment AND can summon an Emperor from Banishment, just to get him back into circulation!
I wasn’t expecting Archfiends to go full tilt Ritual just because Matador was getting released. Still would rather have just had Picador, Banderillero Archfiends and Dark Arena.
I would have preferred that too.
I can already see alot of fanart of Highess Archifend 😋
Idk if this already exists amongst current cards but a way to ritual on the opponents turn makes the ritual a lot better
Urgent Ritual Art as a thrust target maybe, but you still need to get the spell in grave
I expected them to be able to ritual on opponent’s turn with that kinda effect on the big guy. They seem kinda lackluster by themselves and only 1 2500s for Regenesis.
Is this a motherfcking Rush Duel’s Ritual Summon reference?
No, why would it be a reference? Dumb.
Design
Because it can ritual summon from the ED
Ryu-Ge done the same thing. It doesn’t make it a reference. Why of all decks that Konami could possibly use to make a “motherfcking Rush Duel’s Ritual Summon reference” would they do Archfiends? This is Bruno Santo levels of delulu
D-Fusion is clearly a motherfcking Rush Duel’s Fusion Summon reference because it Fuses from only the field!!!! Wow!!!!
I am wondering about OCG rule change to Ritual Monsters because Ritual Summon in Rush Duel format. A new Master Rule will be coming in next months regarding Ritual Monsters.
Is not that serious bro, can’t take a joke?
Its just like how people call literaly their own shadow a jojo reference for the lolz, its just a joke
@TheOne yeah it was just a joke but that other guy just seems to hate Rush Duel or maybe his own life hahaha
I feel like we need one more Pend-Ritual for this to make waves in the meta. This is otherwise a solid 6/10. Mostly because I don’t get Jest. “Level 7 or lower Archfiend, but if you have the Boss Monster in the ED, you can summon [insert cards that meet the qualifications here]”? If it was summoning those specifically named cards from GY or Banishment, I’d get it, but it’s just weird.
It says and/or meaning you can summon all three of them at the same time rather than just one
Based on the attributes and RPG elements of the arts, I understand that this archetype is a sort of spiritual successor to the Archfiend chess theme that debuted in “Threat of the Dark Demon World”
You can just play the Ritual as a super searchable MST
Archfiend support?! In 2025?!?!?!? Impossible!
The ritual pendulum is the missing half to Archfiend Eccentrick
Looks terrible, only the TCG can make competent ritual decks nowadays huh
Why do people keep saying this is Matador support?
1. Matador cannot exist in the Extra Monster Zone nor in the face-up Extra Deck.
2. The first 3 monsters’ ② effects trigger on battle destruction; Matador cannot be destroyed by battle
Sorry, meant to be a top level comment, not reply. Darn this mobile experience
@Benjo – Matador is an Archfiend ritual monster supporting Archfiends, this batch of Archfiends specifically supports ritual summoning. Yeah, Matador being immune to destruction by battle is bit of an anti-synergy and the level is kind of awkward in this deck, but it’s another consistency piece for deck that seems to be all about consistency and a pretty annoying wall in a pinch.
“Readying of Rites” pay-off is getting expanded. Although this has nothing to do with Pendulum Summoning again. It’s a shame. But at least we are getting more into Ritual Summoning.
The Ritual Spell looks brokes asf. Being able to Ritual Summon from almost anywhere now, also it can recycle itself.
I kinda had something in my mind before with Ritual Summoning from the Extra Deck. Kinda bad, that you are still restricted to the Exta Monster Zone. But since its Pendulum, it makes sense.
The pend is probably there just to be able to summon it from the ED. Rush Duels made Ritual monsters start in the extra deck by default so this is probably the main game trying to adapt that.
Pretty neat cards so far
Summon from the ED *with the ritual spell
Archfiend Matador support, huh.
The issue with Archfiends is that they are so widespread and interconnected with other archetypes that it’s probably very difficult to balance it. I remember during Synchro era Infernity and RDA players sometimes ran Falling Down because basically free Snatch Steal is just that good and both decks naturally use “Archfiend” monsters in their combos.
This not matador support
so what it’s just Heiress and the 2 new kid archfiends roleplaying as their parents?
Man, they should retrain the Chess Archfiends into a link archetype with some sort of moving gimmick
Ritual Summoning from the Extra Deck? What is this Rush Duel? Well don’t mind if I do
This would have been the perfect time to create Summoned Skull dedicated support instead of cards based around the Archfiend Heiress family. Are they ever going to support my boy and give him a dedicated deck that can also work with any archfiend?
They did in Rush Duel.png
These cards are cool, but I somewhat miss the old life-paying playstyle of the Archfiends.
My favorite part about this support is that Jest special summons a monster that only triggers on normal summon
I hope since they filled in the missing archfiend pendulums, others like the missing metaphyss can be used to partner to decoy dragon
