    “Exosister Betrayal” Erratum [TCG]

    NeoArkadiaBy NeoArkadiaJanuary 29, 202618 Comments

Basically correcting the fact it wouldn’t work in the TCG otherwise.

Exosister Betrayal had mistranslated text that prevented it from properly working with the rest of the Exosister Deck:

When this card is activated: Add 2 “Exosister” monsters from your Deck to your hand, then discard 1 card. You can target 1 face-up monster you control; immediately after this effect resolves, Normal Summon 1 “Exosister” monster mentioned on that monster. If a monster(s) is sent to your opponent’s GY, even during the Damage Step: You can banish 1 of them (their choice). You can only use each effect of “Exosister Betrayal” once per turn.

It has since been corrected on the Official Database:
When this card is activated: Add 2 “Exosister” monsters from your Deck to your hand, then discard 1 card. You can target 1 face-up monster you control; immediately after this effect resolves, Normal Summon 1 “Exosister” monster mentioned on that monster. If a monster(s) is sent to your opponent’s GY, even during the Damage Step: You can activate this effect; your opponent banishes 1 of them. You can only use each effect of “Exosister Betrayal” once per turn.
Please note that the text of this card has been adjusted. Be sure and play with the version on this page, even if your physical card is different.

Lmao! Exosisters and Strikers deserve erratums!

Does anyone know when we’re getting Chaos Origins reveals and LOCH reveals?

Probably starting around the 7th of February.

This year KONAMI hasn’t announced the usual deck building packs (you know, the ones that introduce 3 new archetypes)

They announce 1 pack each 6 months

Do you think they will tone it down for this year ? because by now they should’ve already announced the three new archetypes

Observing past behavior can let you predict patterns of future events.

A minor detail I don’t see the difference with as the “Use each once per turn” I think explains it well enough

It’s the difference between you banishing the card (old text, wouldn’t trigger Exosister effects) and the opponent being forced to banish the card (new text, does trigger Exosister effects).

      • Neo on January 29, 2026 4:02 am

That’s not what the issue was. Most of the Exosister cards activate when the OPPONENT moves a card out of the GY, not when you do it. The phasing before made you banish

      • ScionStorm on January 29, 2026 4:34 am

As others have said, this is about who is responsible for the final action. Incorrect text had you performing the banishing while your opponent just chooses which card. The correct text establishes that your opponent is responsible for the entire action of banishing. This distinction is especially important in Exosisters.

The mistaken translation is so clunky in its wording reminds me of that one MtG card that was phrased in such a way that the card itself had to decide a target.

The text as it has precedent in cards like Switchpoint (which ironically is itself mistranslated). It’s a way to have the opponent perform an action, while still also being treated as though the action is performed by a card effect. Unlike say Evenly Matched, which has the opponent perform an action, while NOT being treated as though the action is performed by a card effect.
