Move aside Avida – World Legacy found a new Extinction event.

Strategic Summary:
Welcome back to another profile celebrating the latest TCG World Premiere archetype, the Ashened, and this time I’m bringing you a slightly more competitive take. Be sure to check out my initial Ashened profile here: https://ygorganization.com/cdp_ashenedtriamid/, and my last take on a World Legacy Lore deck: https://ygorganization.com/cdp_theworldlegacy/
Now that you’re back, let’s talk about the major points of synergy between this new archetype and an older strategy. First up, Veidos the Eruption Dragon of Extinction is a Level 9 DARK Pyro that can Special Summon itself. This works extremely well with World Legacy Monstrosity, joining a few other monsters with other Types/Attributes, such as Full Active Duplex, Gizmek Kaku, the Shining Sky Stag, and Winged Kuriboh LV9. This is important, as one of your game-ending plays is to Link Summon World Gears of Theurlogical Demiurgy with 3 Level 5 or higher monsters of different Types/Attributes, unlocking the effect to wipe away the entire board. Even if you don’t have Veidos, Hero of the Ashened City is another easily Special Summonable replacement, especially once you factor in the existence of the Mekk-Knights. Speaking of Mekk-Knights, that’s a second major plus for Veidos and the Ashened, as Veidos summons itself to the opponent’s board and sets Ashened for Eternity, giving you two cards in a column to bring out your Mekk-Knight Blue Sky or Mekk-Knight Indigo Eclipse.
Beyond all that, with so many high-leveled monsters, The World Legacy is very easy to stack up, especially once you factor in Veidos’ wiping effect, so you can actually use Firewall Dragon Singularity quite well here. Between that, expanding the Extra Deck to include Promethean Princess, Bestower of Flames and Salamangreat Raging Phoenix, you have plenty of boss tools, Mekk-Knight Crusadia Avramax is no longer your sole boss. The final large point of synergy here lies with the final World Legacy archetype making a significant appearance – the Orcust. The Orcust theme of DARK Machines pairs really well here, especially after the safe return of 1 copy of Orcust Harp Horror, and that’s primarily due to the effect of Dingirsu, the Orcust of the Evening Star. No, I’m not just talking about it’s ability to send something from the field to the GY, but you can actually leverage its protection effect to prevent your monsters being destroyed by a Veidos effect. Longirsu, the Orcust Orchestrator is another option built to survive the Veidos Extinction, but odds are that will be a tad less commonplace. Hope you enjoy The World Legacy in all its glory, now with some Pyro representation!

You know something quincy? If tye modern game enviroment wasn’t fille with omninegates we could be able to enjoy decks like this.
If I’m being honest, I actually don’t consider this build as casual as some of the builds I make. I used to go to a locals with a WL lore deck and do pretty well, and the deck has only gotten more consistent as of late with the FL changes. And Veidos isn’t slotted in here as a joke – it actually benefits the strategy a lot.
My first ashened build is very much the opposite; it uses all the ashened stuff, has a casual tilt to just show what’s possible, rather than showing a cohesive strategy with a real win condition.
The last part of this replay is just something I think about a lot: you don’t have to play hyper competitively to enjoy this game. YGO has an insane amount of depth and complexity, and there are so many hooks to get interested in one thing or another. I’m not saying take Dark scorpion to a tournament and expect to have fun, but try to identify themes that you enjoy using, that have a defined niche that no other deck does better. That’s what I do, and that’s why I still enjoy playing!
