Strategic Summary:
Today’s CDP is the next mega archetype mashup, and it just happens to debut the White Woods archetype to my channel. This lore theme is a flashback to the time when Diabellstar and Diabellze were friends, wandering in the White Woods, and apparently making Synchro Tuners? The biggest draw of this theme is the unique property of their S/T support cards, which set themselves to the field if sent to the GY to activate any monster’s effect. Send Legend of the White Woods (YGOrg Translation) with Magicians’ Souls? Set it back and draw. Send Woes of the White Woods (YGOrg Translation) with Asteria of the White Woods (YGOrg Translation)? Set it back, and grab your LIGHT Spellcaster Tuner straight from your deck. Asteria is joined by Risette of the White Woods (YGOrg Translation) as the two non-Tuners of the archetype, Level 2 monsters that aim to Synchro into Level 6 Synchro Tuners: either Rciela, Wicked of the White Woods (YGOrg Translation) or Silvera, Witchwolf of the White Woods (YGOrg Translation). While they don’t have an effect to Synchro Summon during the opponent’s turn like most Synchro Tuners, these unlock the full potential of Diabell, Fiendess of the White Woods (YGOrg Translation), a Level 8 Synchro boss that recovers any S/T from your GY on Summon, if you’ve used a Tuner Synchro as Material. It also carries an effect to Special Summon a Tuner Synchro from the Extra Deck, GY, or banishment, which can be truly fun for the opponent.
With this solid core of monsters and support, why do we need to flesh it out with more cards? Well the short answer is that the White Woods theme can operate with an extremely thin engine, giving us even more room to make the most of their S/T-sending effects! That’s where the Toy archetype comes in, led by Toy Box (YGOrg Translation), Toy Soldier (YGOrg Translation), and Toy Tank (YGOrg Translation). You see, Box can set Toy monsters to the backrow, for you to send with White Woods effects, to then Special Summon and profit. This engine has always worked well with Magicians’ Souls anyway, we’re just cranking that up to 11. On the other hand, the Charmer archetype fills a bit of a similar niche, offering access to ATK boosts and disruption in the form of Awakening of the Possessed and Grand Spiritual Art – Ichirin, but it also gives you a fun interaction with Possessed Partnerships to Special Summon your White Woods Tuners or Gravekeeper’s Shaman during the opponent’s turn! As for the Magistus theme, well, they support all Spellcasters, so why not include a small engine here? The other benefit is that Artemis, the Magistus Moon Maiden can attach itself as a Spell to a Magistus monster, giving you yet another card to send to the GY to activate White Woods effects!
Alright, enough about the Woods and their friends, it’s now time to cover the second primary archetype of the build – the Centur-Ion. This archetype Synchro Summons Level 12 monsters like noone’s business, and with a LIGHT Spellcaster Tuner of their own and endless low-investment combo potential, this was a shoe in for the deck. Its inherent synergy with the Crimson Dragon is also a plus, unlocking things like Cosmic Blazar Dragon and Bystial Dis Pater only builds up the disruptive potential at your disposal. Venture into the White Woods… if you DARE!

Just thinking, in a pure (ish) White Woods deck, I can’t stop myself from adding this.
“Dotscaper” to Link Summon “Ib the World Chalice Priestess”, and then Ib and the revived Dotscaper to summon “Selene, Queen of the Master Magicians”. Then when Ib goes to the grave, she summons one of the three “Crowned by the World Chalice” I added. Because I feel that a pure (ish) White Woods deck needs more level 2 spellcaster non-tuners, especially if you’re running more than one of each of the White Woods tuners.
If you manage an effect that would let you special summon one of the level 2/4 White Woods monsters (if it wasn’t already on the field), then with the right cards, you could go from a minimal to empty field, to having Selene, Diabell, and one of the Level 6 White Woods Synchros out in one turn.
