Jars, Pods, and Jioh… it’s Morphin’ time!

Strategic Summary:
Today’s Casual Deck Profile answers the question: What happens when you throw a bunch of FLIP Rocks together? It’s just pure fun, at least I’d say. This non-FTK oriented version of the iconic Empty Jar strategy showcases the joy that can come from running older monsters with newer support cards, and a whole ton of optimism. To start, this theme runs on the combination of a few Jar monsters. The first is Morphing Jar, which discards both players’ hands and lets both players draw 5 new cards. In this build, Morphing Jar is essential for giving you as many resources as possible to execute your gameplan, so you’ll love those extra draws. Next, Morphing Jar #2 fills the role of disruptor, bouncing all monsters on the field back into the deck and making both players excavate cards until they’ve found the same number of monsters, Special Summoning those that are Level 4 or lower. Next up, we have Reverse Jar, which flips all other monsters on the field face-down, before returning all face-up Spell/Trap Cards back to the hand. Finally, we have the newest addition to the FLIP Rock crew, Pod of Greed (YGOrg Translation), which lets you select up to 1 excavated card from the top of your deck to add to your hand, then it sends monsters from the Extra Deck to the GY, up to the number of monsters they control that were summoned from the Extra Deck.
As you can see, all of these FLIP Rock monsters offer a potentially massive swing in card advantage, so let’s talk about how the rest of the deck supports that. First up we have the flipping cards, and that is Junk Sleep, Book of Eclipse, Sol and Luna, and Jioh the Gravity Ninja. Each of these cards allow you to Flip cards face-up or face-down at will, something that is very needed, and Jioh comes with the benefit of being on a beefy Level 8 body. In fact, the Ninja synergizes here more than you’d expect, as Ninjitsu Art of Dancing Leaves can be leveraged to tribute your opponent’s face-down Defense Position monsters and Special Summon a Ninja from your Deck. As for the other Ninja, Mitsu the Insect Ninja is just a quick Special Summon away from giving you yet another way to flip up a face-down card. As for the last essential piece of this deck, that’s the Fossil Fusion side of the house. The Spell Card that anchors this archetype lets you Fusion Summon any Fossil monster by banishing materials from either GY. For example, 1 Rock plus a Level 7 or higher monster makes Fossil Dragon Skullgios or Fossil Machine Skull Convoy. These also synergize with Pod of Greed mentioned earlier, as multiple Fossil monsters include effects that can activate while in the GY, such as Fossil Machine Skull Wagon or Fossil Machine Skull Buggy. Flip that frown upside down with the help of FLIP Rocks!
