Strategic Summary:
Do you wear the mask of an anti-hero? The Destiny HERO archetype is a HERO subtheme composed of DARK monsters that have quirky effects. Over time, this subtheme has been pushed to rely heavily upon its Fusion boss monsters, but the recent wave of support gave new life into other parts of the deck, focusing on Destiny HERO Plasma. Once Plasma hits the field, all of your opponent’s monsters have their effects negated. Throw the new D-Force (YGOrg Translation) Spell into the mix, and they can’t target your cards either, plus Plasma itself can’t be destroyed by card effects, gains ATK, and can attack twice. Talk about powering up an already-powerful Boss monster. Since this is now the Plasma show, it’s probably a good idea to talk about the ways of getting 3 monsters to the field easily – thanks Destiny HERO Malicious. This F/L List mainstay may be semi-limited, but the new Destiny HERO Denier (YGOrg Translation) gives you an additional Malicious summon as well, giving you just enough monsters for a Plasmic summon, should you utilize Xtra HERO Cross Crusader!
Like most HERO builds, Destiny HEROs make the most of other overlapping subthemes. For my take on ‘pure’ Destiny HERO, I included a small Vision HERO engine, since Vision HERO Vyon synergizes so well. Vyon gives you Polymerization and a quick way to get Malicious to the GY, and Vision HERO Faris also works as a great way to start your plays by getting to that Vyon through Vision HERO Increase. Once you have Poly, your plays are endless, but the newest Fusion monster packs the most punch. Destiny HERO – Destroy Phoenix Enforcer (YGOrg Translation) reduces the ATK of all your opponent’s monsters, plus it destroys cards on the field during either Player’s turn… and if it is destroyed, it summons a Destiny HERO back from the GY during the next Standby Phase, including itself if you choose! Discover your true potential with the Destiny HERO!
