Strategic Summary:

Welcome back for another Creative Deck Profile, this time aiming to feature a Casual build of the Amorphage archetype, empowered by the new Azamina theme. The Amorphage archetype consists of EARTH Dragons, each having a monster effect that restricts both players from Special Summoning from the Extra Deck and a Pendulum effect that restricts some major game mechanic while you control an Amorphage monster. For example, Amorphage Sloth prevents cards from being added from the Deck to the hand, while Amorphage Lechery stops Spell Cards. The Pendulum Effects also come with a hefty maintenance cost – during your Standby Phase you must Tribute a monster or destroy that scale. To offset this cost, the theme was given Amorphage Infection and Amorphus Persona, two Spells that give you advantage when a card is Tributed on the field or in the hand. Isn’t it great that Deception of the Sinful Spoils does just that?

That’s right, we’ve reached the Sinful side of this deck, as the Azamina archetype consists primarily of Illusion Fusion monsters that will slowly constrict the duel and pull their hope for victory away, one piece of advantage at a time. Whether it is Azamina Moa Regina destroying multiple cards and recovering Illusions from your GY or Azamina Ilia Silvia negating an activated card or effect, this gives you plenty of control over the board before you have to lock down the Extra Deck with Amorphages. All that’s left is trying to build consistency to ensure access to the right Pendulum Scales that would impact your opponent the most, and both Beyond the Pendulum and Odd-Eyes Revolution Dragon let you build to precisely that! Oh, and don’t forget Gold Sarcophagus banishing Redox, Dragon Ruler of Boulders, since that’s a cool way to get to your Amorphage as well!
