    “[Its design] began expanding from concepts like ‘the protagonist is an idea man grade schooler that uses his innovation power as his weapon’ and ‘his ace is a magical knight (rather than a [magic-user/spellcaster]) with a weapon’. While drawing him, I daydreamed about ‘a monster that rather than ‘super-orthodox!’ leans towards a twisted direction, rather than well dressed and good looking is mischievous and like a little devil…who has a puzzle/disentanglement puzzle-like omni object, lights a fire of ideas, and fights with a weapon that starts as a sword but can change forms…will something like that work for an anime?’ and other ideas like that, thinking this is a good direction, and thus decided on them. I think that at that time I also came up with the idea that ‘Sevens Road Magician himself doesn’t really come up with ideas of his own, and by borrowing the power of the idea man protagonist, he can fight by adapting himself to the situation!'”

Because ‘the protagonist has the power of innovation’, I thought of her weapon having a motif of the light bulb sign [from comics]. She can make the rings attached around the light bulb change their shape to bind an opponent or to open a gate to call forth Sevens Road Magician. A weapon that I’d like to have if it was real.”

    “This is the strongest magician that rules over the Sevens Roads, based on Sevens Road Magician, therefore should its consciousness still be that of Sevens Road Magician? Or maybe a new self after being merged with Witch? From my perspective as its artist, I’m on the ‘new self’ camp. Fusions sure are a mysterious thing.”

      I guess it could explain why Sevens Road Magician has been used as both Heroes and Antagonists in Rush’s Animes so far. However, I am a little surprised by the weapon part: that it was more of a technological cube that can adapt and change according to the situation.

      Likewise, that could partly explain some Sevens Road Fusion Monsters: Sevens Road Magician is the one who absorbs the powers/ideas of the other Fusion Material or the other Fusion Material is the one who takes the power of Sevens Road Magician (which varies depending on the Duelist who uses it)

      In any case: rather than being magic users, Sevens Road Monsters are more like Monsters that use technological artifacts that can replicate magic: like “Magic is just science that we don’t understand yet.”
