DUNE-JP031 鳴いて時鳥 Naite Hototogisu (Singing Cuckoo)
Level 3 FIRE Winged Beast Effect Monster
ATK 800
DEF 1000
You can only use this card name’s effect once per turn.
(1) During your Main Phase: You can activate 1 of these effects.
• Destroy this card, then, draw 1 card.
• Discard 1 card, then, draw 1 card.
• Draw 1 card during the End Phase of this turn.
Note: This card’s name is a reference to a story about Oda Nobunaga, Toyomoti Hideyoshi, and Tokugawa Ieyasu, the three great unifers of Japan who ended the Sengoku Era of Japan, characterizing the differences in their personalities and politics.
“Nobunaga, Hideyoshi and Tokugawa were watching a cuckoo bird waiting for it to sing, but the bird wouldn’t sing. Nobunaga says “Little bird, if you don’t sing I will kill you”. Hideyoshi says “Little bird, if you don’t sing, I’ll make you sing”. Then Tokugawa Ieyasu says to the bird “Little bird, if you don’t sing I will wait for you to sing”.”
Basically Nobunaga does things violently (destroy), Hideyoshi forces things (discard), and Tokugawa simply wait (End Phase).
