If you die in Dinomorphia, do you die in real life?
Q: I activated Urgent Ritual Art by banishing Forbidden Arts of the Gishki. The text of Forbidden Arts of the Gishki states that I cannot conduct my Battle Phase during the turn I activate it, but can I still conduct my Battle Phase this turn?
A: You can conduct your Battle Phase this turn. The effect of Urgent Ritual Art only applies the resolution of the Ritual Spell banished for its cost. The text of Forbidden Arts of the Gishki that states you cannot conduct your Battle Phase during the turn you activate it is a condition for activating the card, not the effect’s resolution, so it is not taken into account when activating Urgent Ritual Art by banishing it. Therefore, it can be activated during or after the Battle Phase.
Note: This is a reversal of a reversal that happened a few years ago. The ruling makes sense again.
Q: After activating and applying the effect of Dinomorphia Intact while my Life Points are 125, if I take battle damage from a direct attack by an opponent’s monster with 100 ATK, how do my Life Points change?
A: First, when you pay half your Life Points to activate Dinomorphia Intact, your remaining Life Points will be 63. (If you pay half of an odd number of Life Points, your remaining Life Points will be rounded up to a whole number.)
Afterward, battle damage is taken while the effect “any battle damage you take for the rest of this turn becomes half your LP at the time you would take it” is applying. If your Life Points are 63, the battle damage you take is 32 (the amount of damage is rounded up to a whole number). Therefore, your remaining Life Points will be 31.
Q: The first effects of both Labrynth Cooclock and Temple of the Kings are applying, and while I control Lady Labrynth of the Silver Castle, I Set a Welcome Labrynth and Big Welcome Labrynth from my hand. In this case, can I apply the effects of both Labrynth Cooclock and Temple of the Kings to activate Welcome Labrynth and Big Welcome Labrynth during the turn they were Set?
A: You can activate the 2 Trap Cards by applying each of those effects. However, when activating each of them, you must tell your opponent whether you are applying the effect of Labrynth Cooclock or the effect of Temple of the Kings.
Q: Necrovalley is face-up in my opponent’s Field Zone. In this situation, can I activate Terrors of the Overroot targeting a card my opponent controls and a card in my opponent’s Graveyard?
A: Yes, you can activate it. In that case, the effect of Terrors of the Overroot is negated by the effect of Necrovalley.
Q: Regarding the effect of Fusion Reproduction:
(A) When targeting Red-Eyes Fusion, is the text “You cannot Normal or Special Summon other monsters the turn you activate this card.” applied?
(B) When targeting Super Polymerization or Ultra Polymerization, is the text “Neither player can activate cards or effects in response to this card’s activation.” applied?
(C) Can it target Ultimate Fusion during a phase other than the Main Phase?
(D) If it targets Dark Fusion, can I Fusion Summon Evil HERO Dark Gaia when the effect resolves?
A: The effect of Fusion Reproduction only applies the resolution of the effect that would be performed when the targeted card is activated. When applying the effect of the Spell, you do not need to take into account any conditions for activating that card that are written in its text.
(A) The given text of Red-Eyes Fusion is a condition for activating the card, so it is not taken into account when applying its effect with Fusion Reproduction. In other words, you can still target Red-Eyes Fusion with Fusion Reproduction even if you already Special Summoned that turn, and you can still Special Summon afterward that turn.
(B) The given text is a condition applied to both players when the cards Super Polymerization and Ultra Polymerization are activated, so it is not taken into account when applying its effect with Fusion Reproduction. Therefore, it is possible to chain another card or effect to Fusion Reproduction.
(C) Yes, it can.
(D) If a Special Summon is performed when resolving Fusion Reproduction, the Special Summon is treated as being performed by the effect of Fusion Reproduction. (As mentioned above, only the resolution of the effect is applied, so the card’s name does not change. Therefore, Evil HERO Dark Gaia cannot be Special Summoned by the effect of Fusion Reproduction.
Q: I control a Traptrix Sera, and have a Lord of the Heavenly Prison in my hand revealed by its own effect. Furthermore, my opponent has Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring in their hand. In this situation, after I activate a Normal Trap, I activate the effect of Traptrix Sera that Special Summons a “Traptrix” monster from my Deck. If I want to chain the second effect of Lord of the Heavenly Prison, but my opponent wants to chain the effect of Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, which effect can be activated as Chain Link 2?
A: You can activate the effect of Lord of the Heavenly Prison as Chain Link 2. Furthermore, you are able to activate the effect of Lord of the Heavenly Prison as Chain Link 1, and the effect of Traptrix Sera as Chain Link 2.
Note: Players familiar with OCG’s “priority levels” for effects might find this ruling strange, but the idea is that a monster being revealed in your hand makes it public, therefore it has the same activation priority as an effect on the field, Graveyard, etc.
