Strategic Summary:

Welcome back to an updated take on the Melffy theme, now that they got a new support wave that now includes… Synchros? If you missed my last take on this cuddly pastel archetype, be sure to check it out here: CDP: Mystical Melffy Mayhem. If you aren’t familiar with this archetype, the Melffy are a group of Beast monsters that Summon themselves from the hand during your End Phase. Then, these floofs run themselves right back into the hand with a beneficial effect whenever your opponent Summons or targets it for attack. For example, Melffy Puppy returns itself to the hand then Special Summons any Level 2 or lower Beast from your deck, or Melffy Catty tutors any Beast monster. In POTE, the theme has received two additional brand new monsters to really empower its potential. Melffy Wallaby (YGOrg Translation) is up first, Special Summoning 2 Melffy monsters from the deck whenever your trigger its effect to run and hide. This adds insane consistency to the deck, ensuring that you will have plenty of Melffy monsters at your disposal to keep bouncing on and off the board… obviously to the delight of your opponents. On the other hand, the theme also received Melffy Sealy (YGOrg Translation)… which is a WATER Tuner… just because. In fact, Sealy shares almost nothing with its Melffy friends, it actually can Special Summon itself from the hand during either turn as long as a face-up Beast had been returned to the hand. Additionally, you can also choose to Synchro Summon using it and Melffy monsters in your hand, giving you access to the new Level 4 Cheerful Mellfys (YGOrg Translation), which monsters a monster on Synchro summon.

However this new support doesn’t just lock you into Melffys – you can also be creative with it! As displayed in the video, one unique choice would be to summon Desert Locusts during the opponent’s turn with Sealy, making them discard before you Synchro Summon again for Adamancipator Risen – Dragite, which gives you a Spell/Trap disruption since you have a WATER monster in your GY (Sealy). Besides that, this deck retains all of the Xyz power brought to Melffy decks everywhere by Rescue Cat and Amazoness Baby Tiger since their introduction. Just now, we have extra Synchros. Oh and the cutest new Continuous Spell, Melffy Staring Contest (YGOrg Translation), which reveals your Melffy in hand to reduce the ATK of your opponent’s monsters by the combined ATK/DEF of all revealed monsters. This makes the Normal Melffy Rabby useful for the first time, as revealing a copy of this cute bunny will cause the opponents monsters to lose out on 2100 ATK. Thats enough to avoid OTKs, and definitely enough to stare them down from attacking with an Unexpected Dai. Why sit out during recess?
