A reminder that these are happening today! (And some details on the UK event, including how Jack-in-the-Hand will be ruled)
On the 6th and 7th of February, join us for a weekend full of excitement as we host Remote Duel Extravaganza and Remote Duel Extravaganza Celebration events for the second time!
This is a chance for Duelists to compete in Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME (TCG), Yu-Gi-Oh! Speed Duel or Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links tournaments for fun and prizes via Remote Duels.
This weekend, European OTS stores are hosting various Extravaganza events. If you like Remote Dueling and want to try competing, then I’d heavily recommend people try these out. These will consist of the main event along with several side events, giving plenty of options for duelists to practice and hone their skills.
If you wish to take part in the Main Event, least several are still allowing sign-ups! (The registration period for the UK Extravaganza is until 09:30 GMT)
There are six main regions for remote duels, with dedicated Discord servers for each. You can find the links for each of these servers below, along with on the official Konami Page for the event. If you live in one of these regions, you must only compete in that region.
However, depending on the decision of the OTS, players outside of those regions in Europe can also compete in these events. (The UK tournament has made it clear they are allowing this.)
The 6 Regions for Remote Duels are:
- Benelux (Discord)
- Belgium
- Netherlands
- Luxembourg
- French (Discord)
- France
- Belgium (French Speakers)
- Switzerland (French Speakers)
- German (Discord)
- Germany
- Austria
- Switzerland (German Speakers)
- Iberia (Discord)
- Spain
- Portugal
- Italian (Discord)
- Italy
- Switzerland (Italian Speakers)
- UK & Ireland (Discord)
- United Kingdom
- Ireland
I’d like to also clarify some confusion that I’ve seen on Social Media: Remote Duel Extraganzas have a list of restricted cards, this is in addition to the standard TCG Forbidden & Limited List. However, different stores might have different sets of restricted cards, so please make sure to check with your own store that is hosting your event.
Below is the list of cards that you can’t use in the United Kingdom Extravaganza, that you can find in their Discord.
- Exchange
- Amazoness Chain Master
- Lullaby of Obedience
- Gift Exchange
- Yu-Jo Friendship
- Parasite Paracide
- Transmission Gear
Jack-in-the-Hand has been confirmed to be allowed for this event, and the Head Judge has issued an explanation on how the effect is to be resolved.
Jack-In-The-Hand is not an ideal card for use in Remote Duel due to it’s effect adding a card to the opponents hand, however to properly resolve this we would recommend the following solution
Once the card chosen to go to the opponents hand is decided, place that card upside down but face up at the top of your field, not as to obstruct any other zones but just so both players can see that it is there, this card is treated as in the opponents hand, they may ask to know the effect of this card anytime as with any public knowledge request, once the opponent decides to play this card, they must use a token to designate the zone they are activating it in and resolve it as normal, then the card can be placed in GY (or banished, depending on gamestate) once finished with. Communication is paramount in all aspects of Remote Duel and this is one such example. What i have offered here is merely a preferred example that most people should be able to agree upon. Some of you may have blank cards to write on that can be used instead, that is also fine.
As always judges will be available to help wherever possible and we wish you all the best of luck this weekend.
Once again, here is the Official Page for the event. I personally won’t be able to take part in the main event due to work, but I hope to see as many people as I can in the side events!
