Strategic Summary:
Watch your garden blossom into an explosion of Xyz monsters as you excavate your way to victory! The Sylvan monsters, introducing the key term ‘Excavate’ into the game, are an archetype of Plant-type that typically have multiple effects, one of which that activates when it is excavated and then sent to the GY. For example, Sylvan Princessprout can tribute itself to excavate and send the top card of your deck to the GY to then place a ‘Sprout’ monster back on top of your deck. Separately, whenever it is excavated and sent to the GY, it summons itself to your field as any level of your choosing between 1 and 8. Throw in more cards that mass-excavate, such as Chaos Ruler, the Chaotic Magical Dragon and Sylvan Guardioak, and you have the seeds for success! However, the Sylvan are not alone in this fight. A small Rikka engine helps to give greater access to the Sylvan boss Xyz monsters, Alsei and Orea. Finally, to help get the high-leveled Sylvan out of your hand and onto the field for more excavation, White Rose Cloister (YGOrg Translation) and Rose Bell of Revelation add enough of the rose tint to leaf the consistency at a better place!
