Changes from the current rules
Let’s check the changes from the current “New Master Rules”:
Fusion, Synchro and Xyz Monsters that are face-down in the Extra Deck can also be Special Summoned to your Main Monster Zones
[Can be placed in the Extra Monster Zone or Main Monster Zones]
When Fusion, Synchro or Xyz Monsters are Special Summoned from the Extra Deck, in addition to being Special Summoned in an Extra Monster Zone, you will also be able to Special Summoned in your Main Monster Zones.
You can choose in which Zone to place them according to your Duel strategy. (If the monsters are Special Summoned from outside the Extra Deck, they are Special Summoned in the Main Monster Zones as usual.)
When Pendulum Monsters and Link Monsters are Special Summoned from the Extra Deck, it’s the same as usual
The rules for Special Summoning Pendulum and Link Monsters are the same as the current rules.
When Special Summoning these monsters from the Extra Deck, they are either Special Summoned in an Extra Monster Zone, or in one of your Main Monster Zones that are pointed by the Link Arrows of a Link Monster.
If these monsters are Special Summoned from outside the Extra Deck, they are Special Summoned in a Main Monster Zone.
Rules Q&A
Q: If a Fusion, Synchro or Xyz Monster is Special Summoned from the Extra Deck, must the first monster be Special Summoned in the Extra Monster Zone?
A: In that case, it is not necessary to Special Summon the first monster in the Extra Monster Zone.
(You can choose to place it in the Extra Monster Zone or a Main Monster Zone.)
Q: While Special Summoning a Fusion, Synchro or Xyz Monster from the Extra Deck, can a single player use 2 Extra Monster Zones?
A: The rule for a single player using only 1 Extra Monster Zone each remains unchanged.
(A single player can use 2 Extra Monster Zones only in the case in which they complete an Extra Link by co-linking Link Monsters)
Q: If you have a non-Link Monster in your Extra Monster Zone, can you Special Summon a Fusion, Synchro or Xyz Monster from the Extra Deck?
A: Even if you are already using an Extra Monster Zone, you can Special Summon a new Fusion, Synchro or Xyz Monster in your Main Monster Zones.
Q: If the opponent is using both Extra Monster Zones by using an Extra Link, can you Special Summon a new Fusion, Synchro or Xyz Monster from the Extra Deck?
A: Even in that case, you can Special Summon a new Fusion, Synchro or Xyz Monster from the Extra Deck in your Main Monster Zones.
Q: If a Fusion, Synchro or Xyz Monster is Special Summoned from the Extra Deck by a method other than a Fusion Summon, Synchro Summon or Xyz Summon, such as the effects of Cyber-Stein or Starlight Road, in which Zone are they placed?
A: Even in that case, you can choose whether to place them in the Extra Monster Zone, or your Main Monster Zones.
Q: If a Fusion, Synchro, Xyz, Pendulum or Link Monster is Special Summoned from the Extra Deck ignoring its Summoning Conditions, in which Zone is it placed?
A: Even in that case, the Zone is chosen according to the type of those monsters.
Fusion, Synchro and Xyz Monsters can be Special Summoned in the Extra Monster Zone, or your Main Monster Zones.
Pendulum and Link Monsters can be Special Summoned in the Extra Monster Zone, or in your Main Monster Zones that are pointed by the Link Arrows of a Link Monster.
Q: If a Fusion/Pendulum, Synchro/Pendulum, or Xyz/Pendulum Monster is Special Summoned from the Extra Deck, in which Zone is it placed?
A: If a Fusion/Pendulum, Synchro/Pendulum, or Xyz/Pendulum Monster (like Odd-Eyes Rebellion Dragon) is Special Summoned from the Extra Deck, the Zone is chosen depending on whether it was face-up or face-down in the Extra Deck.
If those monsters are face-down in the Extra Deck, they can be Special Summoned in the Extra Monster Zone or in your Main Monster Zones.
If those monsters are face-up in the Extra Deck, they can be Special Summoned in the Extra Monster Zone, or in your Main Monster Zones that are pointed by the Link Arrows of a Link Monster.
